  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • 1½ tablespoons granulated white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup brewed coffee
  • ¼ cup vanilla creamer

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

HOMEMADE PUMPKIN SPICE MIX: If you can’t get pumpkin spice that is ready-mixed, it is really easy to make your own. A simple pumpkin spice blend would be 4 teaspoons of cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ginger, 1 teaspoon cloves and ½ teaspoon nutmeg. Mix and store in an airtight container.

MILK: Almond milk, coconut milk, cashew milk, and oat milk could all be used in place of the whole milk in this cozy drink.

How To Make This Pumpkin Spice Latte

STEP ONE: Grab a glass measuring cup and add milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, vanilla extract, and the pumpkin pie spice, then whisk together.

How To Serve

Make your own pumpkin spice lattes, and you can capture the fall flavor year-round. Serve it with a cherry Danish or freshly-baked pumpkin coffee cake for a breakfast treat.

If you want to feel even more like you’ve made the trip to Starbucks, why not make one of their favorite pairings with the drink? The kids will love Starbucks copycat pumpkin scones, and they work perfectly with the drink. Or, for a morning option, why not make egg bites to get that protein boost at the start of the day?

Storage

IN THE FRIDGE: Once the drink has cooled, you can store it in the fridge for a couple of days. It is best to leave the cream off if you aren’t going to drink it immediately, as it will evaporate in the fridge.

IN THE FREEZER: You can’t freeze the completed drink, but you can store some of the ingredients to make creating a homemade pumpkin spice latte quicker. Mix the puree, sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice, then seal in a freezer bag. Pop in the freezer for up to three months. To make the drink, add ⅓ cup of milk to a pan and heat up before adding 2 tablespoons of latte mix. Heat until warm but not boiling and thoroughly mixed, then continue the recipe.
