Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino Ingredients

Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino raw ingredients that are labeled

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup whole milk (or substitute preferred milk)
  • ½ cup chocolate syrup (plus more for drizzle)
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • Spray whipped cream OR real whipped cream (1 cup whipping cream and ¼ cup powdered sugar) for topping

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

COFFEE: If you need a caffeine fix, add a shot of espresso or some strong iced coffee for a mocha chocolate chip frappuccino.

CHOCOLATE SYRUP: We used Hershey’s syrup in this easy recipe, but you can use whichever brand you prefer. Adjust the amount for your desired taste.

SWEETENER: You can also add a couple of dashes of simple syrup to sweeten the drink without needing to add more chocolate flavor.

MILK: If you are looking to make this drink dairy-free, almond milk, soy milk, and coconut milk are all great options

How to Make This Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino Recipe

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

This recipe makes two drinks. You can easily double or half the recipe to adjust the number of servings.

STEP ONE: Combine milk, chocolate syrup, mini chocolate chips, and ice cubes in a high-powered blender.

PRO TIP:

The longer you blend the drink, the smaller the chocolate chip pieces will become, but using a high-powered blender (Vitamix, Blendtec, etc.) will pulverize the ice and combine the ingredients while still leaving a few chocolate pieces scattered throughout.

STEP TWO: Pulse to blend until the ice has broken down into equally small pieces.

STEP THREE: Pour between two tall drink glasses. You can drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of the glass first if you’d like.

PRO TIP:

If you would like to make your own whipped cream for the topping, combine 1 cup of heavy cream and ¼ cup of powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, whip until stiff peaks form.

STEP FOUR: Top with whipped cream and a chocolate drizzle.

PRO TIP:

You can add additional mini chocolate chips and stir them in before serving for added chunks in the frappuccino.

This double chocolate chip frappe recipe is pure decadence on its own and a fun drink to enjoy as a pick-me-up in the afternoon. Add a Twix cookie for more chocolate goodness or a blueberry cookie for a burst of fresh fruit.

Storage

IN THE FRIDGE/FREEZER: You must prepare this double chocolatey chip frappuccino right before serving. We don’t recommend trying to keep leftovers for any length of time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the best glass to serve this drink in?

We used a tall glass for this easy recipe, but any glass you have on hand will work fine for your cold Starbucks beverage.

Can I make this drink ahead of time?

This copycat Starbucks double chocolate chip frappuccino recipe doesn’t keep well, so we recommend making it when you are ready to enjoy it.

Can I use different milk instead of whole milk in this recipe?

If you prefer to use different milk, such as dairy-free milk, to add the creamy component to the drink, you certainly can.
