This banana fluff is like a fluffy cloud of pure delight in your mouth. It’s light, airy, and sweet, with a subtle banana flavor that will make you feel like you’re biting into a freshly ripe banana.

The texture is unique and unlike any other dessert – it’s soft, creamy, and heavenly.

You’ll need:

  • 4 ounces of cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 3.4-ounce box of instant banana pudding mix
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon of banana extract
  • 8-ounce tub of Cool Whip whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 cups of mini vanilla wafer cookies
  • 2 cups of mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup of sliced bananas (approximately 2 small bananas), ¼ inch thick

PRO TIP:

The mini vanilla wafers make assembling this recipe so easy. If you only have the standard-sized vanilla wafer cookies, then you can use those; however, I suggest you crush them up a bit before adding them to your fluff. You do not want full-sized cookies in your banana pudding fluff.

Substitutions And Additions

PUDDING: You can substitute instant vanilla pudding for instant banana pudding. You would want to increase the amount of banana extract to 1-1½ teaspoons, though, to give your fluff that wonderful banana flavor.

MIX-INS: Get creative with other ingredients that would add even more sweetness to your banana cream pie fluff salad. What about mini chocolate chips or maraschino cherries?

How To Make This Banana Fluff Recipe

This dessert comes together by combining the ingredients in a bowl. Give it plenty of time to chill before digging in.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

To help slow the browning process of the fresh bananas, you can brush or dip the banana slices in a little lemon juice. Keep in mind that it could throw the taste off slightly due to the sourness of the lemons.

STEP ONE: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese using a handheld mixer on medium speed for 1 minute or until smooth.

STEP TWO: In a small bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix, whole milk, and banana extract just until combined and slightly thickened.

STEP THREE: Pour the banana pudding mixture into the bowl of beaten cream cheese and mix on medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes or until the mixture is smooth and thickened.

STEP FOUR: Fold the thawed whipped topping into the pudding mixture until fully combined.

STEP FIVE: Fold the mini vanilla wafer cookies and miniature marshmallows into the banana fluff mixture.

STEP SIX: Lastly, gently fold the sliced bananas into the banana pudding fluff. You can reserve a couple of banana slices to use as a garnish.

PRO TIP:

If your bananas are large and give you more than 1 cup of banana slices, you can certainly add the extra slices to your fluff. You can also put your extra piece of banana into a freezer-safe zip-top bag to freeze for use in smoothies or other recipes.

STEP SEVEN: Transfer the banana fluff pudding to a serving bowl and garnish with a couple of extra banana slices and mini vanilla wafer cookies. Cover the bowl with a piece of plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

How To Serve

A good fluff salad is always welcome at family gatherings, potlucks, or even a light dessert after a weeknight meal. Serve it with a refreshing strawberry lemonade or Southern strawberry sweet tea to wash it down.

For those with a sweet tooth, try topping your fluff with fresh fruit like sliced strawberries or blueberries, or even a drizzle of honey.

If you prefer something a little more savory, a handful of toasted nuts such as walnuts or almonds adds the perfect crunch to your dish.

We love the ease of making fluff recipes, and our strawberry fluff and peach fluff are two more flavors of this delightful dessert.

Storing Banana Pudding Fluff

IN THE FRIDGE: This banana pudding fluff should be served the same day it is made. You can store leftovers in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap, for 24 to 48 hours. You will need to note that the bananas will start to brown, and the cookies will get soft the longer this fluff sits.

IN THE FREEZER: We don’t recommend freezing this creamy salad.
