Substitutions and Additions
Veggies: Try serving this dip with fresh veggies! Slice carrots, celery, colorful bell peppers, and cucumbers and place them on a plate with the dip for a delicious way to enjoy crunchy vegetables.
Other Cream Cheese: If you can’t find the herb & garlic variety of cream cheese, try the chive & onion or other similar savory cream cheese.
The Best Chips: Typically, you would serve chip dip with potato chips; either classic or wavy is perfect. But you might also enjoy bagel chips, pita chips, pretzels, or kettle cooked potato chips.
How to Make this Chip Dip recipe
STEP ONE: To soften cream cheese, leave it out at room temperature for 30 minutes.
PRO TIP: It’s not best to microwave cream cheese to soften it because it will burn incredibly easily and usually over-softens in some spots while remaining firm in others. Plan a little bit ahead and get the cream cheese out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before you use it for this recipe.
STEP TWO: In a small bowl add softened cream cheese, dry seasoning mix, and sour cream.
STEP THREE: Stir together until well combined.
STEP FOUR: Cover with food safe plastic wrap and refrigerate for two hours before serving.
Storage
IN FRIDGE: Store the dip in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
IN FREEZER: Due to the high cream cheese and sour cream content, this chip dip does not freeze well.
Homemade chip dip made with sour cream, ranch dressing seasoning, and herb & garlic cream cheese is just the right creamy topping for chips or veggies. Make a batch in minutes and chill in the refrigerator to be ready to enjoy as a flavorful snack.
