The herb and garlic cream cheese provides a rich, garlicky taste with subtle herb notes, while the dry Ranch dressing mix adds a zesty kick.

Sour cream balances the richness with its creamy and slightly tangy profile, resulting in a delectable dip.

You’ll need:

  • 1 (250-gram) container of herb and garlic cream cheese, softened
  • 1½ tablespoons of dry Ranch dressing mix
  • ½ cup of sour cream

Substitutions And Additions

VEGGIES: Try serving this delicious chip dip with fresh veggies!

Slice carrots, celery, colorful bell peppers, and cucumbers and place them on a plate with the dip for a delicious way to enjoy crunchy vegetables.

CREAM CHEESE: If you can’t find the herb & garlic variety of cream cheese, try the chive & onion flavor or other similar savory cream cheese.

THE BEST CHIPS: Typically, you would serve this easy chip dip with crunchy potato chips; either classic or wavy is perfect.

But you might also enjoy bagel chips, pita chips, tortilla chips, pretzels, or kettle-cooked potato chips.

SOUR CREAM: Greek yogurt is a popular substitute for sour cream and would work well in this homemade chip dip recipe.

How To Make This Chip Dip Recipe

This dip takes no time at all to make. The ingredients get mixed together in a bowl and chilled for a couple of hours before you are ready to dig in.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

Plan a little bit ahead and get the cream cheese and sour cream out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before you use them for this recipe.

STEP ONE: In a small bowl, add softened cream cheese, dry seasoning mix, and sour cream.

PRO TIP:

It’s not best to microwave cream cheese to soften it because it will burn incredibly easily and usually over-softens in some spots while remaining firm in others.

STEP THREE: Cover your sour cream chip dip with food-safe plastic wrap and refrigerate for two hours before serving.

How To Serve

Serve this creamy dip at your next party with plenty of chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, and cucumber slices.

Our firecrackers are sure to add a bit of spice to your offerings as well.

In addition to chip dip, soft pretzel bites with cheddar sauce are always a crowd-pleaser.

Add a sheet pan quesadillas or sheet pan nachos, and you can turn appetizers into a whole meal!

Storage

Whether you’re prepping ahead for a party or wondering what to do with leftovers (if there are any!), here’s your guide to keeping this dip at its best.

MAKE AHEAD: Simply whip up the dip as directed in the recipe, then transfer it to an airtight container.

Pop it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. It’s best to consume within two to three days for optimal freshness.

Just remember to give it a good stir before serving to restore its creamy consistency.

IN FRIDGE: Store the homemade dip in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

IN FREEZER: Due to the high cream cheese and sour cream content, this chip dip does not freeze well.
