You’ll need:

  • 1 box milk chocolate brownie mix
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup Dr Pepper
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

DR PEPPER: Add a hint of cherry in your brownies with cherry Dr Pepper instead of regular.

TOPPINGS: You can go as simple as a dusting of powdered sugar or as fancy as a scoop of ice cream and hot fudge on top of these decadent brownies.

CHOCOLATE CHIPS: Instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips, you could try a different type of chips such as white chocolate, peanut butter, or even larger chocolate chunks.

How To Make This Dr Pepper Brownies Recipe

STEP ONE: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with parchment paper.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

Lining the pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil will allow you to lift the entire baked brownies out of the pan for easier cutting once cooled. You can also grease the pan instead.

STEP TWO: In a large bowl, combine the box of brownie mix, eggs, vegetable oil, Dr Pepper, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vanilla extract. Mix brownie batter well.

PRO TIP:

Don’t follow the instructions on the cake mix box regarding additional ingredients. We have replaced those here with eggs, oil, and Dr Pepper.

Here’s a fabulous baker’s secret: Coating the chocolate chips in flour before folding them into the batter will prevent them from sinking to the bottom of your brownies. They will remain suspended in the batter while baking.

STEP FOUR: Bake at 350°F for 32 minutes or until a toothpick comes out almost clean.

STEP FIVE: Let brownies cool.

STEP SIX: Lift the cooled brownies out of the pan using the sides of the parchment paper. Cut into squares before serving.

How To Serve

A scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of hot fudge sauce, and a dollop of whipped cream is just the right way to finish off this perfect brownie recipe.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I use diet Dr Pepper for this recipe?

We don’t recommend using the diet version of Dr Pepper as it will change the flavor of the brownies.

Can I use my own homemade brownies recipe for these brownies?

The boxed brownie mix makes this recipe very easy, but if you prefer to make your own brownies, you can. Dr Pepper replaces the water in the boxed brownie mix, so make sure you replace an equivalent liquid in your homemade brownies with Dr Pepper.

Do I have to refrigerate these brownies?

You can store your brownies on the counter for 1 to 2 days or in the freezer for 3 months.

If I used a 13×9 box mix do I double everything? My Publix right now is only offering 13×9. I’m doing chemo and shop by delivery.
