Imagine a heaping plate of golden fries smothered in gooey cheese, crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes, and tangy green onions.

The combination of hot and cheesy with cool and fresh is a flavor explosion in your mouth that you don’t want to miss.

You’ll need:

  • 1 (32-ounce) bag of regular-cut frozen French fries
  • 1½ teaspoons of kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh cracked black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 (16-ounce) package of smoked bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 4 cups of freshly shredded Monterey and Colby jack cheese
  • 1 cup of quartered grape tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh chives
  • Sour cream, optional garnish

PRO TIP:

It is best to grate your own cheese, as the pre-shredded cheese doesn’t melt quite as well due to being coated with a preservative.

Substitutions And Additions

SPICE: If you prefer a spicier version, you can sprinkle chili pepper and ground chipotle peppers or even garnish with hot sauce.

You can also substitute taco meat for crumbled bacon on top of your loaded cheese fries.

FRIES: You can substitute frozen waffle fries, potato wedges, steak fries, curly fries, or even crinkle-cut fries for regular-cut frozen fries.

GREEN ONIONS: You can substitute sliced green onions for chopped chives.

CHEESE: You can substitute any kind of cheese that you like. Cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, Monterey jack, or pepper jack would all work well.

SALSA: Give your loaded fries a Mexican-inspired flair by spooning some salsa on top. Choose mild or spicy salsa based on your preference.

JALAPEÑOS: Spice up your loaded fries by adding sliced jalapeños. These fiery little peppers bring heat and a hint of smokiness to the dish.

GUACAMOLE: Take your loaded fries to the next level by serving them with a generous dollop of guacamole. The creamy avocado, zesty lime, and aromatic cilantro in guacamole create a delightful contrast to the crispy fries.

PULLED PORK: If you’re craving a meaty addition, consider topping your loaded fries with tender pulled pork.

Slow-cooked and seasoned to perfection, pulled pork adds a savory and savory element that pairs well with all the other toppings.

BLACK BEANS: For a protein-packed twist, sprinkle some black beans over your loaded fries.

Storage

We’ve got you covered on how to store and enjoy your leftovers.

MAKE AHEAD: While loaded fries are best when freshly made, you can prepare some elements in advance.

You can pre-cook the fries, cool them to room temperature and store them in an airtight container for up to a day.

When you’re ready to enjoy, simply reheat the fries in the oven or an air fryer to regain their crispy texture. Then, add your favorite toppings and dig in!

IN THE FRIDGE: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.

IN THE FREEZER: This recipe will not keep in the freezer as the toppings will make the French fries soggy. It is best to make this fresh.
