You’ll need:

  • ¾ cup of mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons of yellow mustard
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon of sweet paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt

PRO TIP:

Make sure you use sweet paprika (also labeled as just “paprika”). Smoked paprika will give your honey mustard a smoky flavor. You can try this substitution if you love smoked paprika and want a little twist to a traditional honey mustard sauce.

Substitutions And Additions

HONEY: I like to use clover or standard honey for this easy recipe. Sometimes I will use wildflower honey because it is pretty mild.

Some of the other types of honey on the market can be very strong in flavor, or they are specialty honey from certain flowers, so they will yield different flavor outcomes to your honey mustard sauce. I like to keep it simple for this great recipe.

STEP TWO: Whisk all the ingredients together to fully incorporate and make a smooth honey mustard sauce.

PRO TIP:

This sauce is the consistency of a thick yet pourable salad dressing. If you want a slightly thicker sauce for dipping, add a couple of additional tablespoons of mayonnaise. You will want to start with 2 tablespoons for taste and consistency before adding more to get the desired consistency.

Storing This Honey Mustard Recipe

IN THE FRIDGE: You can store this honey mustard dipping sauce in a lidded airtight jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.

You may need to stir your honey mustard sauce before serving if it has sat in the refrigerator for some time.

IN THE FREEZER: We do not recommend freezing this delicious sauce as the mayo will separate and not thaw well.
