This Chinese chicken salad recipe is a delicious bowl of goodness. It’s a delicious and hearty salad consisting of chopped chicken breast, mandarin oranges, cut romaine lettuce, chow mein noodles, sesame seeds and almonds.

Making this easy Chinese Chicken Salad recipe couldn’t be more simple. It’s perfect for a quick lunch that you can throw together in minutes or you can quickly make it up the night before and store it in the fridge to eat the next day.

At home or on the go, this chicken salad is the perfect meal to keep you going on those busy days.

The dressing is a basic vinaigrette. You can add optional seasonings to your Chinese Chicken Salad like dry hot mustard, sesame seeds, coriander and raw ginger or pickled ginger.

Chinese Chicken Salad Ingredients You Will Need:

  • 1 head of lettuce
  • 3 chicken breasts cooked with ginger root
  • 5 oz can of chow mein noodles
  • pack of almonds
  • 3-6 green onions
  • ¼ cup of sesame seeds

To make the dressing, you will need:

  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 ½ teaspoons of salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 4 tablespoons of vinegar

How to Make this Chinese Chicken Salad

First, start by browning the sesame seeds and almonds on top of the stove in a frying pan with a little oil.

These add the perfect amount of crunch to your chinese chicken salad. Once they’re lightly browned, drain away the excess oil and leave on a paper towel to dry.

In a large salad bowl, mix together the chicken, lettuce, sesame seeds, almonds and green onions to make sure all that goodness is evenly spread around the salad.

Just before you serve your the salad, add the chow mein noodles and dressing. Give it another good mix to make sure the dressing covers the salad and serve.

If stored correctly in the fridge, you could be enjoying delicious salad for 3 – 5 days.

  • Next, toss chicken, lettuce, onions, almonds and sesame seeds together in a bowl.
  • Just before serving, add noodles and dressing.


To make the dressing, heat sugar, salt, pepper, and vinegar until sugar is dissolved. Cool, then add 1/2 cup of oil. Put in a sealed jar and shake well to mix.
