REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER BANANA BREAD INGREDIENTS

You will need:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup bananas, mashed (about 3 medium-sized bananas)
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 28 mini peanut butter cups, divided

Pro Tip: For the best banana flavor for your bread, use very ripe or overripe bananas. They should be at least 80% brown and very soft. When bananas are still a green/bright yellow color, their sugars have not developed enough, and that delicious banana flavor does not shine through in your bread.

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

Peanut butter cups: If you cannot find Reese’s mini cups, you could use full-sized peanut butter cups and cut them into appropriately sized pieces.

Nuts: For a nice crunch, you can add chopped nuts to your bread. Our favorites include pecans, walnuts, or almonds.

Chocolate chips: Add chocolate or Reese’s peanut butter chips for even more decadence in your yummy bread.

HOW TO MAKE THIS REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER BANANA BREAD RECIPE

STEP ONE: Remove the wrappers of your mini Reese’s cups and cut 22 of them into quarters, and place them into a small bowl with 1 tablespoon of flour. Gently toss them to coat them with the flour. Cut the remaining 6 in half and set them aside in another small bowl to top your bread before baking.

PRO TIP: To make cutting the mini Reese’s cups into quarters and halves easier, unwrap them and then place them into the freezer for 15 minutes. When they are cold, they are much easier to cut. Also, make sure to use a sharp or serrated knife.

STEP TWO: In a medium-sized mixing bowl combine the 2 ½ cups of all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set dry ingredients aside.

STEP THREE: In a large bowl, cream together, with an electric mixer on medium speed, the butter and sugar. Add your eggs, banana and vanilla extract. Mix the wet batter until combined.

STEP FOUR: Add your flour mixture and your milk to your butter and banana mixture alternately, starting and ending with your flour mixture. Mix on low speed, being careful not to over mix your batter.

STEP FIVE: Using a spatula, gently fold your quartered mini Reese’s cups into your batter.

STEP SIX: Evenly spread batter into a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan sprayed with baking spray and lined with parchment paper. Gently place your remaining mini Reese’s candies that were cut into halves onto the top of the bread batter. You will want to arrange them nicely for presentation purposes.

PRO TIP: You can buy loaf pan parchment liners to make lining your pans quick and easy.

STEP SEVEN: Bake in an oven preheated to 350°F your for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean. You will want to check your bread at 45 minutes, and if it is getting too brown, you can lightly tent it with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning.

STEP EIGHT: Remove your bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 30 minutes before transferring it to a wire cooling rack to continue to cool for another hour. Make sure your Reese’s peanut butter banana bread is completely cool before slicing.

HOW TO SERVE

This banana bread with Reese’s peanut cups can be served at room temperature or after it has chilled in the refrigerator. Delicious for a snack, you can serve this bread with an iced tea, raspberry iced tea, sweet peach iced tea, or our southern strawberry sweet tea on the side to wash it all down. Loaf breads are also a great idea for gifting. Double or triple your batch and share the love of this favorite candy with your friends.

STORAGE

IN THE FRIDGE: The Reese’s peanut butter cup banana bread can be stored, tightly wrapped in plastic wrap, in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

IN THE FREEZER: This bread can be frozen for longer storage. Slice it into 12 (¾ inch) slices, then wrap the entire loaf well with plastic wrap. Place the plastic-wrapped loaf in a gallon-sized freezer-safe bag. This allows you to remove individual slices when you want to enjoy them.

Deliciously moist and perfect for fans of peanut butter cups, you need to whip up a batch right away! This has to be the best banana bread recipe out there! Chocolate and peanut butter are nothing short of a super combination and add in sweet bananas and you can’t get a more delectable treat.
