This copycat Orange Julius recipe brings back so many fond memories of childhood. The famous frothy drink is a blend of tangy orange juice and sweet vanilla flavors that give it that signature Orange Julius creamsicle taste.

For another cool orange treat, try this Orange Sherbet Punch or, if orange isn’t always your thing, how about a chocolatey Wendy’s Frosty, Iced Caramel Macchiato or a refreshing Pineapple Lemonade. For another recipe to take you way back, try our Fudgesicles.

Orange Julius Ingredients

orange julius raw ingredients that are labeled

You will need:

  • 1 (12-ounce) can of frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups of ice cubes

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

Ice Cream: The vanilla ice cream and milk mixture adds a nice rich creaminess to the blend but you can omit the ice cream and replace it with an extra ½ cup of milk for a lighter drink.

Ice: Adding more ice will dilute the mixture and make it icier.

Milk: This recipe uses whole milk but 2% or skim milk will make it just as tasty.

Orange Juice: You can still make Orange Julius if you don’t have concentrated orange juice by freezing 12 ounces of fresh orange juice in an ice cube tray and using those instead. Just adding plain orange juice won’t give you the icy texture you want for this drink.

How to Make This Orange Julius Recipe

STEP ONE: Place the orange juice concentrate, sugar, milk, ice cream, vanilla extract, and ice cubes into a blender.

How to Serve

Add a twist of orange to the edge of your glass and a striped paper straw, and serve this frozen treat immediately.

Serve this Orange Julius smoothie-style drink as a fun afternoon snack with a bowl of chips and Chip Dip or Ranch Crack Dip. The sweetness of the drink will balance the saltiness of the chips so nicely.

For a sweeter treat on the side, try our fruit salsa with cinnamon chips.
