Thanksgiving Turkey Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm whole milk (105°)
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) yeast
  • 1/2 cup Imperial Sugar, Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling:

  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Imperial Sugar, Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • pinch salt

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups Imperial Sugar, Confectioners Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • pinch salt

For the turkeys:

  • 24 slices cooked bacon, sliced in half
  • 24 candy eyes
  • 6 orange fruit chew candies, sliced on the diagonal
  • 12 red jellybeans or small cinnamon mints

Instructions

1. In a stand mixer, pour warm milk, sugar, yeast; stir.

2. Once the yeast has activated and becomes bubbly, add flour, butter, eggs, salt. Turn mixer on low until incorporated and smooth.

3. Cover; let set for an hour.

4. Once dough has doubled in size, turn out onto a floured surface and roll out into a rectangle.

5. In a small bowl, mix butter, sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.

6. Evenly spread onto the dough and roll into a log.

7. Cut the ends off and cut into even 1.5 inches slices, about 12.

8. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cover. Let rise for 20-25 minutes.

9. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes until golden brown.

10. While the rolls are cooling, mix the frosting.

11. When rolls have cooled, frost each cinnamon roll.

12. Cut each piece of bacon in half. Use some of the frosting to act as a glue and stick the bacon on the side of the roll. Add the eyes, orange fruit chews and red jelly beans.
