Review RecipeWine Slushies
Table of Contents
Full of juicy seasonal fruit and your favorite wine, these wine slushies are so much fun for a grown-up summer drink. They are refreshing, look absolutely gorgeous in the wine glasses, and will keep you cool when the weather is hot.
Wine Slushies Ingredients
Wine slushies have a unique chilled texture that blends wine and frozen fruit to create a refreshing, sweet, and tangy taste all at once.
You’ll need:
For The Slushie:
- 1 (750 milliliters) bottle of sweet white wine (Riesling or Moscato), divided into 1 cup portions and chilled
- 2 cups of frozen strawberries
- 2 cups of ice cubes, divided in half
- 2 cups of frozen pineapple
- Fresh strawberry or pineapple slice for garnish, optional
For The Simple Syrup:
- ½ cup of granulated sugar
- ½ cup of water
PRO TIP:
If you have fresh fruit in season that you want to use, you only need to rinse/peel your fresh fruit, cut it into 1-inch pieces, and then spread it out in an even layer on a parchment-lined sheet tray and place it in your freezer for about 2 hours.
Once frozen, you can place the frozen fruit into a freezer-safe ziplock bag and store it in your freezer for up to 3 months or until ready to use.
Substitutions And Additions
FRUIT: You can make any fruit-flavored white wine slushie of your choice. Replace the strawberries and pineapple with your favorite frozen fruit, and follow the other ingredients and directions as listed.
We highly recommend using fruits like berries, stone fruits like peaches, mangos & cherries (that have been pitted and peeled), or pineapple chunks. These fruits blend up the best. Some delicious fruit combinations are raspberry/peach, mixed berry/mango, and blackberry/strawberry.
ICE CUBES: Freeze orange juice (or your favorite juice) in ice cube trays and use it in place of the regular ice cubes.
How To Make Wine Slushies Recipe
Once you make a batch of simple syrup, all of the ingredients come together in the blender to create these summery drinks.
OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS
If you are serving this for guests, you can make as many fruit flavor choices as you would like and allow party guests to create their own favorite fruit combinations.
STEP ONE: Make the simple syrup by heating ½ cup water in a microwave-safe bowl (a glass measuring cup with a spout works great) for 1 minute. Remove the bowl from the microwave and add ½ cup of sugar and stir to dissolve the sugar. Set aside and allow to cool while you gather your remaining ingredients.
PRO TIP:
If you are using a dryer white wine, like a Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, we would suggest that you increase the amount of simple syrup to ½ cup per flavor blend. That would mean doubling your simple syrup recipe.
STEP TWO: In the container of your blender, add 1 cup chilled white wine, 2 cups frozen strawberries, 1 cup ice, and ¼ cup simple syrup.
STEP THREE: Blend on high (or the smoothie setting if you have it on your blender) for 2 minutes or until smooth, and no chunks of fruit or ice remain.
STEP FOUR: Pour your slushie into a pitcher, or large glass jar, rinse out your blender container, and repeat with your second fruit flavor. Combine the frozen pineapple, wine, ice, and simple syrup until smooth.
STEP FIVE: In the bottom half of a wine glass, spoon ½ cup of your strawberry slushie, then top that by spooning ½ cup of pineapple slushie on top. You can garnish your glass with a piece of fresh pineapple and a fresh strawberry.
PRO TIP:
You may have wine left over after making the two flavors of slushie. You can either use it to make another fruity flavor or save it for later.
