SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

TOPPINGS: These small pizzas are fully customizable and each one could have completely different toppings based on personal preference. Kids love picking and adding their favorite pizza toppings: various meats such as chicken, bacon or pepperoni, veggies such as mushrooms, bell peppers, and cheese make for a delicious pizza when combined with the naan bread and sauce.

How To Make This Campfire Pizza Recipe

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

What is fantastic about these campfire pizzas is that they can be easily prepped ahead at home before you leave for camping — or at your campsite. Whatever works best for you.

STEP ONE: Prepare your chicken either at home or while camping by placing the bite-sized pieces into a cast-iron skillet and sprinkling the dry Ranch dressing over the chicken. Cook the chicken until browned and cooked completely through. If prepared, place the chicken in a plastic Ziploc or storage container to take with you camping.

STEP TWO: Prepare your fire with either wood or charcoal. Let it burn down until ash gray with moderately hot coals but no big open flames. Prepare your grate to go over the fire by spraying it (away from the fire) with nonstick spray.

STEP THREE: To cook the pizza, start by brushing oil on one side of the naan bread and place the oil side down onto the grate over the fire. Watch carefully until it is golden brown. Remove from the fire.

STEP FOUR: Brush oil on the non-grilled side of the naan bread. Turn the naan bread over with the oil side down and begin to make your own pizza on the grilled side.

STEP FIVE: Spread a bit of bottled ranch dressing for the pizza sauce onto your naan bread.

STEP SIX: Add the cooked chicken, bacon, chopped garlic, red onion and spinach in the amounts you desire all over the piece of naan. Top the pizza off with cheese.

STEP SEVEN: Place the pizza directly onto the grate over the fire. Watch carefully until it is heated through and the cheese is melting.

PRO TIP:

If your cheese is slow to melt, you can make a “tent” out of a piece of aluminum foil and place over the top of the pizza to help the cheese melt more.

STEP EIGHT: When the pizza is done to your liking, use a big spatula to remove the hot pizza to a cutting surface and use your pizza cutter to cut into the desired number of pieces. Enjoy!

PRO TIP:

The foil side that touches the grate will most likely be a little oily from the nonstick spray or dirty with ash when you remove it, so be careful. Remember anything cooked over the open fire will be hot when removing, grill with care!

How To Serve

This delicious camping pizza is best served right away, hot off the fire. This gooey, cheesy pizza will fill you up and is a great recipe to add to your camping meal repertoire. Whip up a batch of these s’mores hand pies before heading off on your camping trip so that you have the perfect sweet treat for dessert. Or if pizza is your theme for the night, what about trying our campfire dessert pizza?

Storage

IN THE FRIDGE: Campfire pizza is best eaten right away, hot off the grill. If you had a couple of pieces leftover, they would likely keep in an airtight container in your cooler overnight and could be warmed up over the fire the next day or eaten cold.

IN THE FREEZER: Since this recipe is designed to be eaten fresh off the grill, we do not recommend freezing it. This is best made fresh.
