When it comes to coffee, finding the right creamer can be a game-changer.

Homemade coffee creamer gives you the flexibility to add your favorite flavors and customize your cup of joe to your exact liking.

Smooth and creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness and flavor, homemade coffee creamer adds an extra layer of deliciousness to every cup.

You’ll need:

  • ½ cup of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup of half & half cream
  • ¼ cup of vanilla-flavored coffee syrup (I used the Torani brand)

Homemade Creamer Substitutions And Additions

CREAM: I like the rich creaminess that the half & half gives to this easy homemade coffee creamer recipe; however, you can use any milk option, such as whole milk or skim milk. Remember that if you use a non-dairy milk alternative such as coconut milk, cashew milk, oat milk, or almond milk, you should choose an unsweetened version.

SYRUP: I love the ease and convenience of using flavored coffee syrups when making my homemade coffee creamers. They come in so many different delicious flavors. You can choose any flavor of creamer you want, you will just want to keep all the measurements the same as the original recipe.

Some of my favorites are salted caramel, hazelnut, and French vanilla flavor. There are a few great brands (Torani, Starbucks, Jordan’s Skinny brand, and more) available online and in stores where you purchase your coffee K-cups and ground coffee bags. You can also find the flavored syrups at big-box discount stores in the home goods section.

SYRUP ALTERNATIVE: If you do not want to use the flavored syrups, you can add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture as a substitute for the vanilla-flavored coffee syrup. This is a very quick and easy substitution for standard vanilla-flavored coffee creamer. For other flavors, try peppermint extract or almond extract, or even a splash of pure maple syrup.

How To Make Coffee Creamer

It takes no time at all to make homemade coffee creamer. So skip the store-bought version and whip this up in just a few minutes.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

I like to cut this recipe in half and make a smaller amount of a couple of different flavors to keep in my refrigerator to give myself some flavor varieties in the mornings with my cup of coffee.

When you cut this recipe in half, the homemade creamer stores perfectly in half-pint mason jars. You can label and stack them in your refrigerator for the week, and everyone can enjoy their favorite flavors.

STEP ONE: In a large glass measuring cup with a pour spout, add the half and half, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla-flavored syrup.

STEP FOUR: Label your jar with the flavor and expiration date for your homemade coffee creamer.

PRO TIP:

When labeling your jar of homemade coffee creamer, you will want to take note of the expiration date on your container of half & half to be sure that you write the appropriate date.

I like to use the dissolvable labels from the Ball brand that are used when canning fruits and vegetables. They are found online or where you purchase your home canning products.

How To Serve This Recipe For Coffee Creamer

This homemade coffee creamer is a great addition to your favorite cup of coffee. I highly suggest using your flavored coffee creamer with an unflavored brewed cup of coffee. I like bold coffee brands or espresso to add to my flavored coffee creamers.

I find that the pre-flavored coffee grounds/K-cups tend to compete in flavor with the sweet taste of my wonderful creamers. I find it best to keep my brewed coffee plain and add flavors using my creamers.

Coffee lovers will also enjoy our iced caramel macchiato and iced mocha. Both are refreshing and amazing recipes that add something new to your Java habit.

How To Store DIY Coffee Creamer

Keep this creamer on hand in your fridge so that you always have something to add to your morning coffee.

IN THE FRIDGE: This French vanilla creamer should be stored in a large mason jar with a tight-fitting lid or airtight container in the refrigerator for 7 to 10 days.

IN THE FREEZER: We don’t recommend freezing this creamer as the cream may separate once thawed.

If I want to make two different flavors, coconut & vanilla, how would I do that using this recipe? I want to make a small batch of each.

I would use the recipe using the vanilla syrup then make another recipe but swap it out with coconut syrup.

I love this recipe! Bye bye bought creamer!! Was wondering if I could use heavy whipping cream instead of half and half. I love whipping cream in my coffeeโค๏ธ thanks!

Ran out of store bought a few weeks ago so decided to try this homemade version because itโ€™s what I had on hand after looking at many versions. Loved it, now use it daily. I make about a pint each week. I havnt tried adding different flavors but may try some added liquid caramel to give it another flavor. Quick, easy, cheaper and far better than all those additives in store bought.

Love this. For those who want low sugar – you can make your own sweetened condensed milk by bringing a pint of heavy whipping cream to a fast simmer, add 1 1/2 cups of allulose (allulose does not crystallize) and cook it stirring constantly until reduced to about 1 cup and it turns a light golden color. It takes a while but I have not found a low sugar or non-sugar sweetened condensed milk where I live! Then make your creamer as the recipe dictates.

Also, I love hazelnut mochas so I make my own low sugar chocolate syrup using allulose as well. Pinterest has many recipes. Then I add hazelnut extract.
