Pull-Apart Pigs in a Blanket Ingredients
You will need:
- 1 tube Pillsbury pizza dough*
- 2 (12 ounces) packages cocktail wieners
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
- Flour for cutting board
* NOTE: The Pillsbury brand dough is bigger than generic or store brands, so take that into account if you purchase another brand to prepare this recipe.
How to MAKE Pull-Apart Pigs in a Blanket
STEP ONE: On a lightly floured surface remove the pizza crust from the tube and unroll onto the floured surface. Square it up. Using a pizza cutter cut strips 1 inch by 2 inches. To keep your strips even, you can use the edge of a plastic cutting mat.
STEP TWO: In a small bowl melt the butter and add the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and red pepper flakes. Brush the crust with the butter mixture (there will be some leftover for later). Wrap each cocktail wiener in a small strip of dough and pinch the seam together.
STEP THREE: Grease the inside of an 8-inch spring form pan with cooking spray — you don’t want these little guys to stick after baking! Place the pigs in a blanket standing up in the spring form pan, not packed too tightly. You can tip the pan at an angle while stacking them in so that they don’t tip over like dominoes while you’re working.
STEP FOUR: Brush the remaining butter mixture over the top of the filled pan. Bake covered loosely with foil for 30 minutes at 375 degrees. Then about 15 minutes uncovered to allow to brown without burning. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
PRO TIP: Place the spring form pan on a cookie sheet. This is sooo important so that you don’t end up with a mess in your oven from the butter and seasonings dripping!
How to Serve:
Serve with the dipping sauces. We like ours with ranch, marinara, ketchup, or mustard. You can use classic yellow mustard, or go with spicy brown mustard, or honey mustard, based on preferences.
Pull apart pigs in a blanket also pair wonderfully with these dips:

These are perfect!! A new family favorite!
I did 3omim cover and 15 uncover and the dogs got brown but dough didn’t get done. What I do wrong???
All ovens can run a little differently. You might need to cook for longer covered and then uncover to brown.
It’s so delicious
These were perfect for our son’s party! They looked great and the kids loved them!
Can these be assembled in advance and baked just before you need them?
Yes, I think that would work!
Would these still turn out good if prepped the day before, covered, and refrigerated?
I haven’t tried doing that, but I think it would work!
Instructions for baking were not clear; baked uncovered for 30 minutes then returned to the page for the rest of the instructions and it only then became clear that I was supposed to bake for 10 minutes with the last 20-25 minutes covered. If I’m not interpreting that wrong, that is. The cook time says 30 minutes at the top, so I just assumed.
Hi, Ashley – I just double-checked and you would bake for 30 minutes covered and then 15ish minutes uncovered to allow them to brown without burning. Sorry for the confusion. I hope you enjoy! 🙂
What if I don’t have a spring form pan? Thx
Hi, Laurie – this recipe needs one to work properly!
Are cocktail weiners the same as little smokies?
Yes, enjoy! 🙂
