Substitutions And Additions
TOPPINGS: These small pizzas are fully customizable, and each one could have completely different toppings based on personal preference.
Kids love picking and adding their favorite pizza toppings: various types of meat such as chicken, bacon, or pepperoni, veggies such as mushrooms, bell peppers, and cheese make for a delicious pizza when combined with the naan bread and sauce.
How To Make This Campfire Pizza Recipe
Get your campfire going while you prepare the toppings. You will assemble the pizza right on the grill and cook until it is heated and the cheese is melted.
OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS
What is fantastic about these campfire pizzas is that they can be easily prepped ahead at home before you leave for camping — or at your campsite. Whatever works best for you.
STEP ONE: Prepare your chicken either at home or while camping by placing the bite-sized pieces into a cast-iron skillet and sprinkling the dry ranch seasoning over the chicken. Cook the chicken until browned and cooked completely through. If prepared, place the chicken in a plastic Ziploc or storage container to take with you camping.
STEP TWO: Prepare your fire with either wood or charcoal. Let it burn down until ash gray with moderately hot coals but no big open flames. Prepare your grate to go over the fire by spraying it (away from the fire) with nonstick spray.
STEP THREE: To cook the pizza, start by brushing oil on one side of the naan bread and place the oil side down onto the grate over the fire. Watch carefully until it is golden brown. Remove from the fire.
STEP FOUR: Brush oil on the non-grilled side of the naan bread. Turn the naan bread over with the oil side down and begin to make your pizza on the grilled side.
STEP FIVE: Spread a bit of bottled ranch dressing for the pizza sauce onto your naan bread.
STEP SIX: Add the cooked chicken, bacon, chopped garlic, red onion, and spinach in the amounts you desire all over the piece of naan. Top the pizza off with cheese.
STEP SEVEN: Place the pizza directly onto the grate over the fire. Watch carefully until it is heated through and the cheese is melting.
PRO TIP:
If your cheese is slow to melt, you can make a “tent” out of a piece of aluminum foil and place over the top of the pizza to help the cheese melt more.
STEP EIGHT: When the pizza is done to your liking, use a big spatula to remove the hot pizza to a cutting surface and use your pizza cutter to cut it into the desired number of pieces. Enjoy!
PRO TIP:
The foil side that touches the grate will most likely be a little oily from the nonstick spray or dirty with ash when you remove it, so be careful.
Remember, anything cooked over the open fire will be hot when removed. Grill with care!
