Frozen French Fries In Air Fryer Ingredients
Preparing these frozen French fries in the air fryer is a breeze, thanks to the minimal ingredients required.
Frozen shoestring French fries take the spotlight in this recipe, providing the ideal base for achieving the perfect crispiness.
The seasoned salt adds a savory and aromatic element, elevating the flavor of the fries to new heights.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 28-ounce bag of frozen shoestring French fries
- 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt
PRO TIP:
You can easily prepare only half the bag if you are not serving a large number of people. You just need to store the remaining frozen French fries in a freezer-safe zip-top bag until you are ready to use them. I suggest using them within two months for the best results.
Substitutions And Additions
FRENCH FRIES: For a twist on flavor for this French fries recipe, experiment with different brands or cuts of French fries.
Whether you prefer thicker wedges, waffle fries, crinkle-cut fries, curly fries, or sweet potato fries, the air fryer will work its magic on any variety.
SEASONING: If you don’t have seasoned salt on hand, feel free to substitute it with your favorite seasonings.
Whether it’s a classic table salt or a gourmet blend, choose the one that suits your taste buds.
SALT: I love the flavor that Lowry’s season salt adds to the French fries. However, you can certainly season them with a standard table salt or even a fine ground pink Himalayan salt if that is what you keep on hand in your pantry.
TOPPINGS: Want to add a touch of decadence? Sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese or a drizzle of truffle oil over the fries after cooking for an extra burst of flavor.
SPICE: Spice lovers can kick it up a notch by dusting the fries with a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder before air frying.
It will add a delightful heat to each bite.
How To Make This Frozen French Fries In Air Fryer Recipe
Preparing frozen French fries in the air fryer is a straightforward process.
Just follow these easy steps:
OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS
I used a 6.8-quart capacity COSORI brand air fryer for this recipe. This is a larger capacity air fryer than some other brands.
You will need to note that you may need to air fry your French fries in two to three batches if necessary to not overcrowd your air fryer basket with each batch.
STEP ONE: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for four minutes. Be sure that the inside of your air fryer is clean.
You do not need to add any oil to the basket of the air fryer.
PRO TIP:
Frozen French fries are pre-cooked in oil before being flash-frozen and bagged for sale. Due to the oil that is already on the frozen French fries, I find that I do not need to add any additional oil to the air fryer basket. They will crisp up to a beautiful light golden color.
You can add a light spray of non-aerosol olive oil to the frozen fries after the first five minutes of cooking time if you like your fries a darker golden crisp.
STEP TWO: Add half the 28-ounce bag of frozen French fries to the preheated air fryer basket. Spread the French fries out into an even single layer.
STEP THREE: Sprinkle the French fries with a half teaspoon of seasoned salt.
STEP FOUR: Air fry for five minutes, shake your French fries, and air fry for an additional five minutes.
Shake again, and air fry for a final four to five minutes or until lightly golden brown and crisp.
PRO TIP:
Make sure to check your air fryer manual for time guidelines for your specific air fryer model. Air fryer cook times and temperatures vary depending on the type of air fryer you have.
STEP FIVE: Give the cooked French fries a final shake and transfer them to a serving plate.
STEP SIX: Repeat steps two to five until all the frozen French fries have been cooked.

Storage
Whether you’re planning to make these ahead or have leftovers to preserve, here’s what you need to know:
MAKE AHEAD: If you’d like to prepare these perfect air fryer French fries ahead of time, you can partially cook them in the air fryer for about five to seven minutes.
Let them cool completely, then store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
When you’re ready to serve, simply air fry them for an additional five to seven minutes until they reach the desired crispiness.
IN THE FRIDGE: Once cooked, you can store any leftover fries in the refrigerator for up to two days.
Place them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in foil to maintain their texture.
To reheat, simply pop them back into the air fryer for a few minutes until they are heated through and crispy.
IN THE FREEZER: Since these French fries were previously frozen, we don’t recommend re-freezing them.
REHEATING: To reheat the refrigerated or frozen fries, simply place them back in the air fryer at 400°F for a few minutes until they are heated through and regain their crispiness.
Alternatively, you can use a conventional oven or toaster oven to reheat them.
