Ingredients
28ouncesfrozen shoestring French fries(Ore-Ida brand)
1teaspoonseason salt(Lowry’s brand)
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 4 minutes. Be sure that the inside of your air fryer is clean. You do not need to add any oil to the basket.
Add half the 28-ounce bag of shoestring French fries to the preheated air fryer basket. Spread the French fries out into an even layer.
Sprinkle the French fries with ½ teaspoon of seasoned salt.
Air fry for 5 minutes, shake your French fries, air fry an additional 5 minutes, shake again, and air fry for a final 4 to 5 minutes or until lightly golden and crisp.
Give the cooked French fries a final shake and transfer them to a serving plate.
Repeat steps 2 to 5 until all the frozen French fries have been cooked.
Notes
You can easily prepare only half the bag if you are not serving a large number of people. You just need to store the remaining frozen French fries in a freezer-safe zip-top bag until you are ready to use them. I suggest using them within 2 months for the best results.
I used a 6.8-quart capacity COSORI brand air fryer for this recipe. This is a larger capacity air fryer than some other brands. You will need to note that you may need to air fry your French fries in 2-3 batches if necessary to not overcrowd your air fryer basket with each batch.
Frozen French fries are pre-cooked in oil before being flash-frozen and bagged for sale. Due to the oil that is already on the frozen French fries, I find that I do not need to add any additional oil to the air fryer basket. They will crisp up to a beautiful light golden color. You can add a light spray of non-aerosol olive oil to the frozen fries after the first 5 minutes of cooking time if you like your fries a darker golden crisp.
Make sure to check your air fryer manual for time guidelines for your specific air fryer model. Air fryer cook times and temperatures vary depending on the type of air fryer you have.
