Chocolate Peanut Butter Lasagna Recipe

By  |

There is no better dessert combination in this world than the sweet creaminess of chocolate and the nutty saltiness of peanut butter! The best way to marry these two together is in an irresistible Chocolate Peanut Butter Lasagna!

My grandma’s chocolate peanut butter lasagna recipe is one of my favorite no bake desserts of all time (I’ve heard it called Chocolate Peanut Butter Dream dessert, too.) Because there’s no baking involved, just a lot of mixing, it’s also a great chance to get the kids cooking in the kitchen.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Lasagna:

Layered Chocolate Peanut Butter Lasagna has a creamy mousse-like peanut butter filling made with creamy peanut butter, cream cheese and whipped cream. It’s followed by a layer of fluffy vanilla and chocolate pudding.

The crust is made from buttery crushed dry roasted peanuts and the topping is creamy cool whip with a sprinkling of grated chocolate and dry roasted peanuts.

It’s one of those old fashioned recipes like oatmeal cake that everyone’s grandma makes.

In fact, I’ve made this dessert lasagna so often with my own grandma that I know the recipe by heart. Every time I make it for a party someone asks me for the recipe. My kids, nephews and nieces love this dessert so much that they ask me to make it for their birthdays.

What kid (or adult) doesn’t love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter?

How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Lasagna

To make the crust, the 1st layer of the dessert lasagna, you’re going to need 1 cup of crushed dry roasted peanuts, 1 cup of flour and ½ a cup of margarine. Mix all of these ingredients together in a bowl and then pat it into the bottom of a 9 x 13 cake pan.

You will need to bake the base of your chocolate peanut butter lasagna in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 – 20 minutes and them leave it to cool.

To make the 2nd layer of your chocolate peanut butter lasagna, take the ½ a cup of peanut butter, 8 oz of cream cheese, 8oz of cool whip and 1 cup of sugar and thoroughly combine them in a bowl.

Once all the ingredients have been mixed together, spread the filling over your cooled crust in the casserole dish.

For the 3rd layer , you will need the packets of vanilla and chocolate instant pudding and 3 cups of milk.

Mix the vanilla and chocolate instant pudding together and then make according to the instructions on the pudding packet.

Spread your pudding mixture over the second layer in the cake pan.

For the 4th and final layer of this chocolate peanut butter lasagna recipe, simply take the remaining 8 oz of cool whip and spread over the 3rd layer.

Sprinkle the cool whip generously with grated chocolate and  crushed roasted peanuts. (Sliced banana also makes a good topping.)

Lastly, you’ll want to leave the chocolate peanut butter lasagna in the refrigerator for 4 – 6 hours or overnight to set firmly (if you can wait that long!)

How to serve chocolate peanut butter lasagna

To spice up (not literally) this classic recipe, you could add some crushed Oreo cookies or chocolate chips to the crushed dry roasted peanut crust and sprinkle some extra Oreo cookies on top of the fluffy cool whip topping.

The kids love it because they can add their own toppings to their slice of chocolate peanut butter lasagna and make it there own.

Everyone’s favorite peanut butter and chocolate candy, Reese’s, is a perfect topping for a chocolate peanut butter lasagna!

Berries, whole or as a sauce also go really well with this dessert lasagna because the sharpness of the fruit cuts through all the sweetness.

My mouth is watering and this looks so decadent. Best combo ever pb and chocolate, plus I love no bake desserts. They are a favorite at my house. Thanks for sharing at Merry Monday!
