Review RecipeAir Fryer Pizza Rolls
Table of Contents
These air fryer pizza rolls have a crispy outer layer from the tortilla wrap that contrasts nicely with the ooey gooey, melted cheese and savory pepperoni inside. The flavor is similar to a classic pizza, with the tangy pizza sauce and string cheese providing that familiar cheesy stretch, but with an added crunch from the air-fried tortilla. A delicious, snack-sized take on pizza, each bite is a combination of light crispiness and rich, cheesy goodness.
Here’s What You Need To Know
Main Ingredients: Flour tortillas, pizza sauce, pepperoni, string cheese, olive oil.
Quick Steps: Spread sauce on tortillas, add pepperoni and cheese, roll, brush with oil, and air fry.
Total Time & Yield: 20 minutes total, serves 8.
Why This Recipe:
This air fryer pizza roll recipe focuses on simplicity and flavor. It offers a fun, quick alternative to traditional pizza with its crispy tortilla shell and classic pepperoni and cheese filling.
- Unlike more complex recipes, this air fryer pizza roll recipe doesn’t add unnecessary steps or ingredients, making it an easy go-to option.
- While many recipes rely on pizza dough, which can result in denser rolls, our version uses soft tortillas. This gives the rolls a satisfying crispness while staying light and flaky.
- Plus, using string cheese ensures each bite has that ideal cheesy pull without excess greasiness.
Air Fryer Pizza Rolls Ingredients
If you’re a fan of pizza rolls, you’re in for a treat with air fryer pizza rolls. The crispy exterior gives way to a warm and gooey filling that you will love.
Here’s what you’ll need to make this recipe:
- 8 soft taco-size flour tortillas
- ½ cup of pizza sauce
- 1 (6-ounce) package of full-size sliced pepperoni (you will need 10 slices per pizza roll)
- 8 string cheese, room temperature
- 2-3 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil
Substitutions And Additions
OLIVE OIL: You can substitute vegetable oil for olive oil in this pizza roll recipe. I do not recommend brushing the pizza rolls with butter, as that may cause the tortilla to burn.
FILLINGS: You can customize the pizza roll fillings depending on your preference. Mushrooms, green peppers, bacon, and onions are a few of our favorites.
How To Make This Air Fryer Pizza Rolls Recipe
These air fryer pizza rolls take no time at all to whip up, and the air fryer makes it easy to cook them fast.
STEP ONE: Spread one tablespoon of pizza sauce at the bottom of the flour tortilla, leaving ¼ inch at the edge of the tortilla.
If the tortillas are either cold or a little on the stiff side, you can heat them in the microwave for 20 to 25 seconds to make them a bit more pliable.
STEP TWO: Lay 10 slices of pepperoni on top of the pizza sauce.
STEP THREE: Lay one whole string cheese on top of the pepperoni.
You can use the string cheese straight out of the refrigerator, but allowing the cheese to come to room temperature will give a meltier pizza roll.
STEP FOUR: Carefully and tightly roll the tortilla up. Lay the pizza roll seam side down. Repeat the process for the remaining pizza rolls.
Important: Some air fryer instructions prefer olive oil spray, grapeseed oil spray, or similar types of natural sprays and not sprays like Pam. Check your air fryer manual for which nonstick sprays are acceptable.
STEP FIVE: Remove the basket from the air fryer and lightly spray it with nonstick cooking spray. Leave the basket out and preheat the air fryer to 375°F. This should only take three to four minutes.
STEP SIX: Use a pastry brush to brush the olive oil over the tops of the pizza rolls.
STEP SEVEN: Lay three to four pizza rolls (depending on the size of your air fryer basket) in a single layer into the basket.
Leave a little space between the pizza rolls. Cook for 9 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Make sure to check your air fryer manual for cooking time guidelines for your specific model, as times and temperatures vary depending on the type of air fryer you have.
How To Serve These Air Fryer Pizza Tortilla Rolls
Serve crispy air fryer pizza rolls while warm. They’re great with your favorite dipping sauce. Try marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or extra pizza sauce.
For a more complete meal, you could opt for a simple Caesar salad with fresh greens to balance out the richness of the pizza rolls.
Alternatively, go for something more indulgent, like garlic bread or cheesy pull-apart bread.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We find that corn tortillas are not quite as pliable as flour tortillas, so we recommend sticking with the flour ones for this great recipe.

Donna says
Made these for New Years Eve. Used shredded mozzarella since I didn’t have string cheese. So much easier than making home made pizza! Will definitely make these again.
Amanda says
I would top them with pepperoni and I olives.
Marianne Wiebe says
Quick and easy dinner and each person can pick their favorite filling. I like ham and salami where my daughter just likes cheese.
Sue Kartzmark says
Fast easy and delicious and most importantly the kids love it especially because they can make it just the way they want it. Turning them into Hawaiian was a big hit
Cathy says
I would use shredded chicken, Thai sweet chili sauce, chopped red pepper and just a bit of well drained crushed pineapple. Be sure to drain well – maybe even pat with paper towels – otherwise the pineapple will become soggy. Or use a pineapple jam or leave out the pineapple but make a Jezebel sauce for dipping,
Ginnie C says
These pizza rolls are the best! My kids love them for a quick lunch. I load them up with pepperoni and cheese and freeze to have handy. So, so good!
Marcie says
I would fill my kids’ pizza rolls with meat lover’s mix of sausage and bacon. Can’t wait to try!
Dianne Paxton says
I would use Canadian bacon and a combination of mozzarella and cheddar or Colby cheese. Adding sausage with it would also be good.
Carla Morrison says
I would substitute provolone instead of string cheese.I would use ham & cream cheese also. I have not made your recipe , but they sound easy to make.
Dana Burke says
I would make these for my family. I would use ranch as a dip it option. I would add sautéed mushrooms.
Deborah Barnes says
I would add some cooked sauage to the roll, yummy!!!
Bobbie says
Ooooh, these have so many possibilities!! I think I would stuff them with taco meat and cheddar or pepper jack cheese – then dunk them in salsa and sour cream or guac! 🙂
Cheryl says
What a great idea! It would be hard to keep from overstuffing them with all of the things I normally put on a pizza, like mushrooms, onions, olives, bell peppers. I really think these would be good just like the recipe. calls for. My husband and I are retired and love experimenting on new recipe’s like this one. One pizza roll and some type of salad to get in my daily dose of veggies would be perfect!
Danny says
They were great
Leile says
I would use our favorite toppings. Sausage, peppers and onions.
Lisha Payne says
I think it would be good with Canadian bacon on it. I would serve it with some homemade fries. This works make a great meal for the kids!
Evelyn Weaver says
These look so easy to make and look really yummy. I think I would add some diced onions, chopped green olives and chopped mushrooms to them. We get our grandchildren every other weekend and we always have Saturday night movies. These would make a great snack to go with our movie night instead of our usual chips, popcorn, etc. I think I would pair these up with some air fryer onion rings and offer different dips such as marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or even a cheese dip. These would also make a great snack for when we go adventure walking. Paired with some mixed granola these would definately be great as a fill in for lunch.
Teresa Gerber says
Definitely would use mozzarella cheese, and a salad on the side!!
Karen says
I would make these with cooked ground sausage and canned mushrooms!
BARB says
These look great. Want to try them.
Susan says
I am going to try sausage next time!!!
Maureen says
Are you kidding me, kids would kill to have these for lunch. I could serve these with hot chocolate on a cold day. I think that would go over big. You could add mushrooms, red pepper, and green pepper. Any pizza toppings would fit the bill.
Marcie Welter says
I would use cinnamon and sugar for cinnamon roll pizza rolls!
Geri Michalak says
I didn’t realize the string cheese had to be room temperature. So I unwrapped then and put them in the microwave for 15 seconds on speed defrost. It worked well. I will add some garlic powder in the next batch. This is a great, easy and delicious recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Diane says
I love this! So crunchy! Love the string cheese! My granddaughter will love helping me make these for everyone!! 😍
Jade Verheul says
These look amazing!! Pepperoni and mushroom for my family, for sure lol
Dana Lasko says
These were excellent and super easy! I only made one since I was the only one home. I just happened to have everything, including the large size pepperoni, except for the string cheese. I used shredded mozzarella that I already had open instead. These were so yummy. The time and temperature was spot on for me. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I will definitely be making these again.
Meg says
Made these as an after school snack for my kids and they were a huge hit, I’ll definitely be making them again for snacks, dinner, and game days!
