To give the invite an artistic feel, Misha incorporated a black chalkboard image and pops of vibrant “paint”. Her printable invitation was filled with necessary party details (we love the wording): “Paint, color, sculpt and glue. Max wants to create with you!” And of course, the Picasso party was held at Max’s very own Perritt Gallery.

Misha wanted the party space to feel like an art explosion. She accomplished this by styling a colorful dessert table. Using a black tablecloth for her backdrop, she created a focal point by designing and hanging cute signage. There was no mistaking the “Max’s Awesome Art Party” theme. Over a dozen paper lanterns and tissue poms in a variety of sizes and rainbow colors hung from the ceiling. The finishing touch was a festive tissue tassel garland and pennant banner that combined to dress up the front of the table. The saturated colors definitely made an eye-catching display!

The dessert table was bright and fun, but we are sure the variety of treats was also enticing.

A cupcake tower displayed printable-topped cupcakes, while a cake stand gave rise to chocolate-dipped, giant marshmallows and Rice Krispy treat pops!

When young artists arrived at Perritt Gallery, they received a personalized apron. Misha created a custom design with iron-on paper and added it to purchased solid-colored aprons. The aprons came in handy during all of the art projects, including a Picasso pizza-making station!

The gallery was set with creation stations for each party guest. We love the mini easels with name cards marking each artist’s spot. An art palette and sculpting tools were at each place setting along with “creative juice” to get the inspiration flowing.

Another fun activity was using Sculpey clay to create Picasso’s faces. Misha baked the finished pieces in her oven to help them harden by the party’s end. Making Picasso lollipops were the next art activity. Using crushed Jolly Rancher candies, kids got to create their own edible masterpieces. The candies were heated in the oven for 6 minutes at 350, and then a sucker stick was added before the masterpieces cooled.

The final art party activity involved making Picasso portraits. Budding artists were encouraged to draw abstract portraits of themselves using chalk pastels and black construction paper. What a fun activity!

The creativity didn’t end when the party was over. Misha sent guests home with orange buckets filled to the brim with art-related party favors. We love the extra touch of personalizing each favor bucket with guest names and a cute thank you from the guest of honor for “making [his] party a masterpiece.” Looks to us like Max’s flair for the creative might just come from his talented mama!
