Table of Contents
You’ve heard of “Jenny from the block”? Now get ready for a “Bronx” party from the block. Head to New York City, more specifically the Bronx, for this first birthday party filled with incredibly creative ideas. Serena Locatelli transported the Bronx to California to celebrate her son’s (also named Bronx) birthday. You will love the New York and Metro-inspired cake and treats dessert table, as well as the grunge props and decorations that are carefully woven into this party theme. Danielle Marie Photography captured all of the clever details of this first birthday party.

We love when a party theme begins at the front door. Serena set the scene with a “Welcome to New York” sign. In order to gain entrance into the party, guests had to successfully pass through a Metro station-inspired turnstile and insert their tickets.
Once inside, guests were treated to an amazing New York-themed party. A combination of party signs by Divine Functions, Artwork by Timber, and printable décor by Three Lil Monkeys combined for one amazing event.
Metal letters spelling Bronx stretched across a table decked out in great props reminiscent of New York City. The model taxi cab and trash can—complete with graffiti—definitely brought in a “Big Apple” vibe.
Colorful Izze drinks, cake pops by Cake Poppin, and darling favor boxes with custom subway-themed labels completed the look.
Directional signs inspired by subway signs found in the city highlighted popular New York attractions like Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Zoo.
An amazing party table was set, mixing in bright colors with fun New York-themed accents. Serena’s husband created centerpieces to look like street signs intersecting in the Bronx.
Apothecary jars filled with red and blue gumballs added pops of color against the black tablecloth. Bright red placemats mapped out each guest’s place setting, where quintessential New York taxi cab food boxes held cups, candy wands, and other meal items.
Famous streets in the City were highlighted on guest chairs with printable street signs. Brilliant. Guests enjoyed sandwiches, pasta salad, and assorted finger foods.
One of Serena’s favorite party elements was the dessert table. A custom-made, brick wall-inspired, printable backdrop made a perfect scene setter for a New York City dessert table. I love the thought behind the dessert choices.
An amazing cake by Daisy Delights highlighted the city skyline on one tier and paid homage to the intricate New York subway system on another tier. Don’t you love the hashtag cake topper? Perfection!
Peace Love Sugar created a coordinating skyline-inspired smash cake, which Bronx thoroughly enjoyed!
Cake pops were fashioned into hot dogs and served in a cute hot dog cart, while cookies by Sweet Baketique looked like pizza.
Serena made “Big Apple” candy apples and traffic light candy kabobs—perfect additions!
And what would a New York City-inspired dessert table be without cannoli? We love how bricks were used to add height, texture, and dimension to the display. Serena thought of everything.
Imagine the guest’s excitement in finding out they got to take home these delicious treats as party favors. Somebody—please pass us a cannoli.
