This creamy drink is like paradise in a glass. The pineapple gives it plenty of tropical vibes, while the coconut brings a thick and rich texture to make sipping a delight.

The addition of rum flavoring brings a little something extra without adding alcohol. Of course, you can’t have a fancy beverage without a maraschino cherry or two on top!

You’ll need:

  • 1 (16-ounce) bag of frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup of unsweetened coconut cream
  • ¾ cup of 100% pineapple juice
  • 1 teaspoon of rum flavor
  • 2 fresh pineapple wedges (optional garnish)
  • 2 maraschino cherries (optional garnish)

PRO TIP:

Make sure you buy coconut cream and not canned coconut milk for this virgin piña colada recipe. Coconut cream is thicker and richer than coconut milk and is the unsweetened version of cream of coconut.

Substitutions And Additions

COCONUT CREAM: If you enjoy a super sweet version, you can substitute sweetened coconut cream for the unsweetened one.

This is called ‘cream of coconut’ and can often be found in the alcohol aisle of the grocery store with the margarita mixes.

PINEAPPLE JUICE: I like getting the little mini (6-ounce) cans of pineapple juice to keep in my pantry.

These are great for this sweet drink recipe since 6 ounces is what you need, and they come in a 4 or 6-pack.

How To Make This Pina Colada Mocktail Recipe

You don’t need to be on an island to whip up these incredible virgin pina coladas. Just add your ingredients to a blender following our instructions below and give it a whirl. Pour it into a fancy glass, garnish, and enjoy!

STEP ONE: Add the frozen pineapple chunks to a 7 to 8-cup blender. Pour the coconut cream and pineapple juice over the frozen pineapple chunks.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

If you prefer a thinner version of this tropical treat, increase the pineapple juice to 1 cup. And if you prefer an even thicker version, reduce the pineapple juice to ½ cup.

STEP TWO: Pulse on low a few times. Add the rum flavor.

STEP THREE: Keep the speed on low, and blend on the puree setting until smooth, about 30 to 45 seconds.

Garnish the rims of two 14-ounce glasses with the pineapple wedges and the maraschino cherries. Serve immediately.

PRO TIP:

If the drink begins to warm up too quickly, you can add ½ cup of ice cubes to the blender and pulse a few times on low. You can also chill the glasses in the freezer before you are ready to serve.

How To Serve

This perfect refreshing drink would make a special treat at a summer party or beach-themed event.

Add our fruit salsa and cinnamon chips, and cucumber bites for a little snack to enjoy on the side.

If you have guests looking for a classic pina colada with a little extra kick, our pina colada recipe is exactly what you are looking for. Add our pineapple cooler for a little bit of variety.

For a couple more non-alcoholic cocktail recipes, our blue lagoon mocktail and Shirley Temple drink should do the trick.

Storage

IN THE FRIDGE: This easy mocktail is meant to be served immediately and won’t keep well in the fridge.

IN THE FREEZER: We do not recommend freezing this non-alcoholic drink. It is best made fresh.

For this classic drink, a hurricane glass is a popular choice, but you can also use any other fun cocktail glass you have on hand.

Can I make this virgin pina colada recipe ahead of time?

We recommend making these tropical pineapple drinks when you are ready to enjoy them, as they will not maintain their thick, creamy consistency.

Can I use fresh or canned pineapple in this recipe?

You can use either fresh or canned pineapple, but we would recommend freezing it first before adding it to the blender to achieve the creamy, thicker consistency of this drink.
