It’s obvious that Ashleigh knows a great invitation sets the tone for a party. To get guests excited about the roaring good time to come, she chose to send out boxed dinosaur egg invitations. Using plastic Easter eggs, she painted them eggshell white with speckled brown paint to give an authentic look. Cool-themed invitations were placed right inside the eggs. Each egg was set on top of a bed of loose moss in a brown craft box.
The inside of the box lid had a “crack me” sticker to encourage guests to open the contents. The outside of the box was dressed up in navy blue ribbon and a “You’re Invited” label.
Rustic tables with awesome place settings provided a fun atmosphere for party guests to dine. Ashleigh covered tables with white linens and added burlap runners as the foundation.
For an earthy look, round moss placemats were created by cutting circles from moss table runners. At each guest’s place, a neatly prepared lunch box was displayed. There were kid-friendly favorites like dinosaur-shaped sandwiches, grapes, pretzels, and carrots—each individually packaged with clever dinosaur-inspired labels.
Handsome utensil holders were another creative DIY item. Ashleigh used a wired burlap ribbon and a dab of hot glue on the edges to create the textured pockets. Wooden utensils and a napkin were added and tied with colored twine. Aren’t the cute customized name tags a perfect way to help guests find their seats?
Glass bottles were dressed with printable wrappers and accented with green paper straws and custom “roar” flags. The printable elements by Heather Nelson Design really helped tie the look together.
To add even more pizzazz to the table, Ashleigh spray-painted toy dinosaurs from the dollar store and gave some of them miniature party hats to wear—love it! Inspired centerpieces were terrariums made from artificial plants, sand, rocks, and moss, all arranged in bubble bowls standing tall on tree stump platforms.
The dessert table definitely gave guests something to roar about! We love the dinosaur exploration sign, printed by Drop Place, which was a perfect theme-coordinating backdrop. Using a burlap table skirt to continue the rustic look, a printed banner hung across the front, spelling out “Happy Birthday”. Tall artificial grasses flanked each side of the dessert table for added interest.
DIY dinosaur serving dishes were created by Ashleigh from dollar store dinosaurs, spray paint, and lightweight plates.
Parchment paper was added for food safety before displaying chocolate-covered Oreos and custom-wrapped Hershey chocolate nuggets. Towers of chocolate and vanilla macarons made an impressive display served alongside chocolate glazed donuts, key lime cheesecakes, Oreo chocolate pudding cups, and layered Jell-O!
Wood rounds boasted beautifully decorated sugar cookies by Creeative Cookies by Ree.
A simply frosted two-tiered cake was perfect for this rustic dessert table. Topped with a custom banner and two toy dinosaurs, the cake sat on a nature-inspired stand, complete with wood and moss. Notice the big brother, little brother-sized dinosaurs—sweet!
Ashleigh chose to keep the main menu simple, having just had a baby three weeks prior. She picked up a few pre-made selections that would be crowd-pleasers. Using white platters, she served an assortment of deli wraps, sub sandwiches, fruit, and veggies.
In addition to the lunch and dessert fare, Ashleigh set up a great trail mix bar with everything from nut varieties to raisins, pretzels, sunflower seeds, M&Ms, and Craisins. We love the candy jars with DIY dinosaur lids. Bet guests had a great time making up their own mix!
Fantastic activities were planned for this dinosaur party, too. There was a dinosaur piñata, a creative-themed photo booth complete with cool props, plus a reptile show.
The party crowd was introduced to a collection of reptiles, which they actually got to touch.
Ashleigh planned an entire favor table, decked out in tassel garland and an appealing “thank you for making my birthday dino-mite” sign. Posters with highlights about each birthday boy were displayed against a bamboo backdrop. How cute is that photo banner?!
Navy favor bags were on hand for filling with all sorts of things: toy dinosaurs, handmade dinosaur-shaped crayons, custom coloring books, and white chocolate dinosaur “bones” pretzels.
Guests even got to “adopt” a dinosaur and choose an adoption certificate. Everything was creatively labeled with custom tags.
The birthday boys, dressed in their personalized shirts, couldn’t have asked for a more fitting celebration!
