  • 2 tablespoons of salted sweet cream butter
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic cloves
  • 8 ounces of cubed cream cheese
  • 1½ cups of reserved pasta water or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon of dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon of kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon of fresh cracked black pepper
  • ½ cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, optional garnish
  • 12 ounces of cooked fettuccine (or any shape of pasta) 

Substitutions And Additions For Cream Cheese Pasta

BROTH: You can substitute vegetable broth for the starchy pasta water or chicken broth in this easy sauce.

BUTTER: You can substitute unsalted butter for salted sweet cream butter. You can also substitute extra virgin olive oil for the butter in this creamy pasta sauce.

How To Make This Cream Cheese Pasta Sauce Recipe

To make this creamy sauce, you’ll gently simmer the ingredients in a skillet on the stovetop until the perfect consistency. It’s then ready to mix with your favorite pasta noodles.

STEP ONE: Add the butter to a deep-sided 10 to 12-inch skillet or 5 to 6-quart saucepan over medium heat. Allow the butter to melt.

STEP TWO: Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic. Stirring often to ensure the garlic does not burn. Cook for 1 to 1½ minutes.

STEP THREE: Add the cream cheese and continue cooking for 3 to 4 minutes until the cream cheese has melted. 

PRO TIP:

Be sure to stir constantly to keep the cream cheese from scorching.

STEP FOUR: Whisk in the reserved pasta water or broth, onion powder, oregano, kosher salt, and pepper. Continue whisking for another 3 to 5 minutes until completely incorporated and smooth.

STEP FIVE: Remove the pan from the heat and whisk in the grated parmesan cheese. Continue whisking until the cheese is melted. 

PRO TIP:

To help make your sauce extra creamy, allow your parmesan cheese to come to room temperature before adding it to the sauce.

STEP SIX: Add in the cooked pasta and stir to combine. Garnish with the fresh chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
