Planning a boy’s fourth birthday party is a lot of fun, especially when a dragon birthday party theme is in the works!
Birthday boy Ayden loves dragons, but after having a dragon theme for his third birthday party, his mom wanted to add a fresh twist to this year’s celebration.
Ayden loves the book Dragons Love Tacos so tacos became the fun addition to the already beloved dragon theme.
Planned by Mints & Honey and photographed by Sprinkle Forest Photography, you’ll see so many trendy details, from party decorations to the dragon topped birthday cake to magical party favors.

The fabulous dessert table was backed by an amazing print by Shop Love Dottie. A cute black and white dragon steals the show, breathing out flames of “Happy Birthday Ayden”.
Black and white rain drops create an eye-catching modern pattern as a bottom border.
So many fun colors were incorporated into the birthday party desserts. An amazing Dragons Love Tacos cake was topped with whimsical dragons and bordered with paper triangles in a variety of colors and patterns.
I adore the mint cake stand which provides an unexpected pop of color.
Delicious looking cupcakes with the cutest mini-paper taco toppers might be my favorite featured dessert.
Although…the macarons are a close second! Edible markers were used to paint them. I love how they are arranged to look like little cacti.
Of course the desserts didn’t stop there. There were watermelon and pineapple lollipops (the guest of honor’s favorite treat).
There was another beautiful cake, topped with a glittered #4…
…a rainbow of fortune cookies…
…plus candy peppers and churros!
I could live on dessert alone, but at this party, a full menu was available for guests to enjoy. A self-serve taco bar was set up, which was the perfect idea to go with the “Dragons Love Tacos” theme.
To keep guests entertained, there was a fabulous magic show complete with card tricks and balloon animals.
Guests also enjoyed whacking a taco piñata.
Plus, check out the fun photo op, complete with dragon masks! I love the darling signs and foil Mylar balloons. Too cute!
To end the fun night, guests received creative party favors—color changing books plus a dragon necklace craft kit.
What a fun twist on a dragon birthday party theme! No need to wait until “Taco Tuesday” to enjoy tacos!
