  • 24 slices of sliced deli ham

Substitutions And Additions

CHEESE: You can substitute any different type of cheese for the Muenster cheese on these easy ham sandwiches.

Swiss cheese, mozzarella cheese, or cheddar cheese would be tasty, while a great spicy alternative is pepper jack cheese.

MUSTARD: You can substitute spicy brown mustard, stone ground mustard, yellow mustard, or any other type of mustard/condiment for the Dijon

HAM: Any type of deli ham can be used, such as honey ham or black forest ham. This would also be a great way to use up leftover ham.

You could also use any other type of deli lunch meat if you prefer.

DOUGH: Crescent roll sheets can also be substituted for the cans of perforated crescent rolls for this ham and cheese recipe.

The sandwich has become a family favorite. I’ve loved S&L’s parties for years but this was the first of their recipes that I tried. I found this in an attempt to clear the condo fridge on our last day of vacation. I had to make a few subs but everyone loved it. Fast forward four months and my aunt requests “beach sandwiches” for her 75th birthday dinner! I now make it every few months for her. I’ve learned a couple of things. There are many yummy subs for the meat and cheese options, but roast beef wasn’t a good fit. Also, if you are going to halve the recipe, a silicon pastry brush is an easier way to spread the mustard in an 8×8 dish. Finally, the left overs warmed up make a great quick breakfast. Thanks so much!
