Melissa of The Cake Boutique recently celebrated her son Finley’s second birthday party. Deciding that he would have a vintage car-themed birthday party was easy for her because Finley’s two favorite words are “cake” and “car”.

She chose the red color based on his gift: a red ride-on vintage car. We love the idea of tying the theme to the gift! Especially in this case since it’s sure to be such a pleasing idea for a little boy or girl. Together with her partner in crime, The Sweet Stylist (who did all the paper and party bags), they planned a gorgeous event.
The backdrop is gray and white chevron, which is simple but makes all the other colors pop. Melissa also used some blue accents at the party.
Guests enjoyed a variety of foods at the party. It’s great that all of the foods stay within Melissa’s color scheme as well. Candies were served in blue and red buckets on the table. Each item is labeled with a cute car printable sporting the birthday boy or girl’s age.
We think the Nuts and Bolts Popcorn serving idea is very cute with the little striped bags on wheels. There were also Mint Chocolate marshmallow tires, Jelly Fuel, and Road Sign chocolates. Guests enjoyed delicious vanilla bean cupcakes as well. How fun is the custom-made Belgian chocolates that are shaped like cars?!
The cake is SO cute with the roadway shaped like the number two! We love the little red car on it as well. Another great tie-in to the car birthday party theme!
Party favors were served to guests in black bags with white lines, made to look like roadways. The bags were filled with toy cars, car-shaped chocolates, and a car bath squirter.
The race room! Melissa’s conservatory was turned into a mini race track for the kids to enjoy. Melissa created a roadway on the floor and provided toy cars for the little guests to race around on.
The ceiling was also festively decorated with balloons in red and blue. This is a great idea to keep the kids busy while the adults visit — plus burn off some energy!
