A Joint Circus Birthday Party

By  | Last Updated:

Bright and festive, a boy’s circus themed birthday party is a fabulous way to celebrate not one, but two birthdays! Planned by Brittany Schwaigert of GreyGrey Designs to celebrate two little brothers turning 4 and 1, this party is full of circus fun.  From a petting zoo, to face painting, to a grandiose cake that stole the show on a super dessert table, this party just might be the “greatest show party on earth”!

Guests stepped right up to a festive shindig full of circus and carnival favorites!  A ticket-inspired wreath welcoming guests hung on the front door.  Don’t you just love the incredible circus printable designs by Chickabug?  You’ll notice many of her fun creations used as party decorations around the event space.

After entering the party space, guests encountered the “main event” with an extravagant “Big Top” inspired dessert table. Brittany created a show stopper using sparkly red fabric curtains and an impressive marquee style letter “T” to represent the first initial of each of the birthday boys.  Talk about a focal point! Can you believe Brittany made this using a cardboard science fair backdrop, red poster board and string lights? Using her talents and her Silhouette, Brittany constructed a gorgeous banner for the front of the dessert table (and several other tables) from glitter cardstock layered on shiny metallic cardstock. I imagine guests stepped right up to that sweets table over and over again!

Traditional circus sweets filled the table, adding to the magic of an already exciting event.  There were gorgeous sugar cookies from Whimsy Cookie Co. Sparkling, glittered apples from Autumn Lynn’s Chocolate Sins made an enticing presentation.  Gumballs filled an apothecary jar, adding height and color. And, a circus party wouldn’t be complete without cotton candy!  Dolly’s Sweet Dreams Cotton Candy customized cotton candy lollipops for the party—such a great way to keep the sticky mess at bay.

Brittany pulled out her Silhouette to cut glittered “T”s to personalize the Whirly Pops.

While each dessert offering was delightful in its own right, the two exquisite cakes stole the dessert show!  Mad Lily Cakery baked an unbelievably detailed, Big Top-inspired cake for guests to enjoy, and a smaller coordinating smash cake for baby Taylor.  I adore the colors and quintessential circus patterns and designs used to embellish the cakes! Brittany made an impressive cake stand by glamming up a hat box with metallic poster board stacked on top of an embellished yellow bucket.  It looks just like an elephant trainer’s stool, doesn’t it? Circus animals, glittered poms and rolls of carnival tickets added to the excitement.  Colorful ribbons, printable labels and glittered accents completed the look.

Stationed near the dessert table was a giant ticket booth from Birthday Express.  It was a wonderful photo booth and a great play area for the party kids.

The festivities and fun didn’t end there.  Additional tables in coordinating red, yellow and blue décor were for traveling food vendors, Simply Delicious Catering, who prepared fresh funnel cakes and corn dogs for guests!  Notice more of Brittany’s creative banners hanging from the table fronts.

Brittany extended the circus vibe around all areas of the property.  An amazing banner from Birthday Express hung from the back of the home.  An impressive and colorful balloon arch by Teddy Bear Express transformed the pool area into an extension of the circus fun!  Not far from the pool, the basketball court housed colorful tables for dining.  Each was dressed in a colored tablecloth and featured a ticket framed printable or an adorable circus tent piñata (Birthday Express) as a centerpiece.
Circus Birthday Party Themed Ideas Train Rides
Throwing the greatest party on earth calls for a variety of fun activities:  Brittany delivered in a big way! Guests enjoyed playing with a menagerie of animals at a visiting petting zoo.  Pony and train rides were another fun option.  Brittany also arranged for face painting by Fairys and Frogs Face Painting.
Boys Circus Birthday Party Favor Ideas
Guests came one and all, and when they left each took an adorable goldfish-in-a-bag soap favor.  Using plastic gold fish from Oriental Trading, cello bags and personalized ribbon, Brittany had the creative idea to string the favors like they do at real carnival game booths!  She created an amazing display using a striped tabletop tent and darling signs from Chickabug’s printable collection, adorned with ticket stub frames.  I imagine guests couldn’t wait to claim their prize!

I bet guests had just as much fun at this circus birthday party as they would at the real circus!  What an unbelievable job by GreyGrey Designs!  You can see more of Brittany’s talent in action on her Facebook page.
