This Strawberry Angel Food Cake is a hybrid between a strawberry shortcake and jello. The tartness of strawberry jello and lemon is combined with sweet fluffy angel food cake to make a yummy no-bake dessert. The strawberry-flavored jello gives it a light and airy consistency — and a nice strawberry flavor — which is also multiplied by the frozen strawberries in the creamy mousse.

This cake takes minutes to put together and is absolutely a no-fuss, stress-free recipe. Jello is a magical dessert ingredient. A few more dessers that use jello or pudding mix to help it all come together include our No Bake Strawberry Jello Pie, and No Bake Eclair Cake.

Strawberry Angel Food Cake:

What exactly is a strawberry angel food cake? It’s is a sweet dessert made with a base of fluffy angel food cake layered with a creamy strawberry mousse. The result? A way less complicated, daily dessert-friendly version of a trifle.

This dessert also has such pretty pink color as well, so it’s beautiful and delicious! For more easy cakes that will impress guests, check out our banana split cake. and our Hawaiian wedding cake.

How to Make Strawberry Angel Food Cake

Mix up the the strawberry flavored jello mix, lemon juice, and boiling water.

Once mixed, add in the frozen strawberries and Cool Whip. Break up an angel food cake and place the pieces at the bottom of a 9 by 13 pan. Pour the strawberry mousse over the angel food cake

I also sometimes replace the frozen strawberries inside with fresh fruits. I especially love using an assortment of berries: blueberries, fresh strawberries, raspberries and more! For my kids sometimes, I would also throw in some mini marshmallows or mini white chocolate chips. These definitely make my kids squeal with delight!

Strawberry isn’t the only flavor I make of this cake. Because there’s so many different flavors of jello, I have to try switching up the flavor of this cake too. An occasional blueberry or lime cake makes this dessert so much more fun. But, strawberry is the one I make all the time because it’s just such a universally loved flavor. Drizzled with some sweetened condensed milk or with an extra dollop of whipped cream, this dessert is perfection in a little pink cloud.

This fruity no-bake dessert doesn’t have to be made in a pan. Because it’s so easy, you can put it in any sort of container as long as you adjust for the amount you need in different containers. From casserole dishes to personal cups, how you serve and how much you serve at once is totally up to you!

How Long to Chill

This is a no-bake recipe. So, the oven gets to take a break while the fridge does all the work! For this angel food cake delight to solidify fully, you would have to chill this cake until all the jello solidifies.

Usually, that takes a few hours. I would suggest that you let your cake chill overnight to ensure that everything sets fully. Once it sets, it’ll be structurally sound to be cut in slices or scooped.

If you haven’t finished your cake, simply store the rest in the fridge. Wrapping it and putting it in the fridge is all you have to do. What a stress free process! It’s easy to put together, easy to eat, and easy to store.

This is a dessert that is loved for any age range. I’ve seen my own aunt fight for the last piece with her husband.
