The tangy cranberry juice and citrusy orange juice both bring plenty of fruity flavor to this tasty cocktail, while the vodka and peach schnapps give it a grown-up kick, making it the ideal summer cocktail.

And, of course, you can never go wrong with an orange slice and cherry to fancy up your drink a bit.

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1½ ounces of cranberry juice cocktail
  • ½ ounce of grenadine
  • 1½ ounces of vodka
  • ½ ounce of peach schnapps
  • 1½ ounces of 100% pulp-free orange juice (not from concentrate)
  • Slice of orange that has been cut in half (I use navel oranges), garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry with stem, garnish

PRO TIP:

You can use the fresh navel orange as the juice for this fruity cocktail drink. I suggest slicing off a piece for your garnish prior to juicing your orange. You will have some pulp in your drink if you are using fresh-squeezed juice.

Substitutions And Additions

VODKA: Keep your vodka simple for this drink. You want to use at least a mid-grade vodka variety. It does not need to be top shelf as it is being mixed with the fruit drinks.

CRANBERRY JUICE: Make sure you use a cranberry juice cocktail (not 100% juice with no sugar added), as this drink requires a higher sugar content to allow the red layer to stay separated from the orange layer.

As a rule, the higher sugar liquids tend to sink, and the less sugar ones tend to blend quicker.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

Use a paring knife to cut a little slit in the bottom of the cherry and the orange slice so that they sit firmly on the edge of the glass.

STEP FOUR: Garnish the rim of the glass with a slice of orange and the maraschino cherry.

PRO TIP:

You can add a colorful straw to the glass and give your sex on the beach drink a stir with the straw to combine the layers before enjoying your drink.

If you would like to make a virgin sex on the beach drink, you could try adding peach nectar in place of the peach schnapps and leaving out the vodka.

Can I make this sex-on-the-beach recipe ahead of time?

This alcoholic beverage won’t keep well as the ice will melt and water it down. It is best to make it right when you are ready to enjoy it.

What type of glass is best for this recipe for sex on the beach drink?

You can use any glass you prefer for this popular drink, but we tend to like to use a tall glass such as a highball glass or Collins glass for this easy cocktail.
