Completely darling and irresistible, these reindeer pretzels are the best treats to make this holiday season. Salty pretzels get a melted Rolo chocolate on top, before being given a red nose and googly eyes; you can’t help but smile with these little guys around.

The Rolos add creamy caramel and chocolate sweetness, mini pretzels for a savory crunch, and small red candies and candy eyes for a playful touch.

These treats are a perfect combination of tastes and textures, making them a festive and enjoyable snack for all ages during the holiday season.

You’ll need:

  • 20 Rolos, unwrapped
  • 40 mini pretzels, divided in half (plus a few more in case of breakage)
  • 20 small round red chocolate candies of any kind
  • 40 candy eyeballs

PRO TIP:

You will need some extra pretzels for the pretzel antlers because some will break.

Substitutions And Additions

CHOCOLATE: You could also use Hershey’s Kisses instead of Rolos for this perfect treat.

RED CANDY: I used red M&M’s to create their noses, but you could certainly use red hots or another small red candy.

You could also use peanut M&M’s if you want a larger nose, or you could also try another flavor of M&M’s like peanut butter or caramel.

PRETZELS: I’ve also seen people use cookies, graham crackers, Nutter Butters, or gingerbread to build a reindeer face on.

I think this option with the pretzel twist is the best because they look like reindeer antlers!

How To Make This Reindeer Pretzels Recipe

We’ll show you how to assemble these fun and adorable treats.

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 350°F.

STEP TWO: Unwrap the Rolo candy and set it aside.

STEP THREE: Separate half of the pretzels and spread one half on the baking sheet.

STEP FOUR: Cut the remaining half of the pretzels in half. These will be used for the antlers (you will need some extra because some will break). Set aside.

STEP FIVE: To the pretzels on the baking sheet, place one unwrapped Rolo on top of each pretzel over the single round part of the pretzel.

STEP SIX: Put the baking sheet into the oven and bake for two to three minutes or until the Rolo has gotten soft and melty.

PRO TIP:

Make sure the rest of your ingredients are ready to go as soon as the pan comes out of the oven, as you will need to finish the faces quickly before the Rolo chocolate sets.

STEP SEVEN: Remove the baking pan and add the red candy nose to the bottom center of the melted chocolate, pushing down gently on the Rolo as you add them.

STEP EIGHT: Add the antlers by sticking the pretzels onto each side at the top of each Rolo.

STEP NINE: Add the edible candy eyes right above the red candy nose on top of the chocolate.

STEP TEN: Let them cool to solidify and enjoy!

PRO TIP:

While it is hard to be patient, make sure to let these reindeer cool completely before serving them.

Storage

Here are some tips on how to store them to keep them fresh and ready to enjoy whenever you’re in the mood for a tasty treat.

MAKE AHEAD: If you’re planning ahead for a holiday party or event, you can make these reindeer pretzels a day or two in advance.

After assembling them, simply store them in an airtight container at room temperature until you’re ready to serve.

Avoid stacking them too closely to prevent any decorations from smudging.

IN THE FRIDGE/ON THE COUNTER: You should store these Rolo pretzel reindeer in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to keep them fresh and looking good.

Room temperature is fine for these fun snacks, or in the fridge will ensure that it doesn’t get too warm for the chocolate.

IN THE FREEZER: These chocolate reindeer pretzels don’t tend to freeze very well, so we would recommend making them fresh.
