This classic Little Caesar’s Crazy Bread recipe calls for just a handful of ingredients:

The star of the show, the pizza dough, provides the perfect base for our crazy bread. Its soft, fluffy texture and mild flavor make it ideal for the garlic and parmesan.

The butter and garlic salt are melted and combined to create the luscious buttery garlic topping that elevates these breadsticks to the next level.

The parmesan cheese provides the finishing touch that adds a salty, cheesy kick to each breadstick.

You’ll need:

  • 13.8-ounce can of refrigerated pizza dough (Pillsbury Classic pizza crust)
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon of garlic salt
  • ¼ cup of grated parmesan cheese

PRO TIP:

Make sure that you are using a fresh can of refrigerated pizza crust. I have found that with the older cans, the dough does not rise and bake as well.

Substitutions and Additions

PIZZA DOUGH: While our easy copycat recipe sticks to classic pizza dough, feel free to experiment with whole wheat or gluten-free alternatives if dietary preferences or restrictions apply.

CHEESE: Add variety by swapping out parmesan for shredded mozzarella or even a blend of Italian cheeses for a different cheesy twist.

HERBS: Elevate the flavor profile by mixing fresh or dried herbs like basil, oregano, or parsley into your melted butter for an aromatic touch.

How To Make This Little Caesar’s Crazy Bread Recipe

With only four ingredients, it’s super easy to make these irresistible breadsticks.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

This recipe is made with the classic pizza crust option. This has not been tested with the crispy pizza crust from the can. If you choose to use the crispy version of dough, then you will need to note that your bake time and final results will vary.

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

STEP TWO: Open the can of refrigerated pizza dough and unroll it into a large rectangle on a large cutting board or clean work surface.

Cut eight strips of dough of approximately 1½ inches wide x 8½ inches long using a pizza cutter or very sharp knife.

STEP THREE: Separate the first dough strip from the rest and, using your fingertips, gently fold it over and roll it into a log shape. Be careful not to work the dough too much, or the bread will become tough.

dough rolled out

Place the rolled pizza dough onto the prepared baking sheet, seam side down, then repeat with the remaining strips of dough until your baking tray has all eight crazy bread sticks on it.

You will want your rolled dough logs to be spaced about 1-1½ inches apart on the tray so that each breadstick has room to expand when baked and to brown evenly while baking.

STEP FOUR: Bake for 16-18 minutes or just until the breadsticks are lightly golden.

PRO TIP:

Oven temperatures vary and may need to be recalibrated periodically to ensure they are accurate. Make sure to keep a close eye on your bread as the suggested baking time approaches.

STEP FIVE: While your crazy bread is baking, add the melted butter to a bowl with the garlic salt and stir to combine.

STEP SIX: Once you have removed your baked breadsticks from the oven, generously brush the melted garlic butter mixture over the entire top surface of all the crazy bread breadsticks.

How To Serve

These Crazy Breadsticks are perfect as an appetizer for your next family gathering or game night. Pair them with marinara sauce (crazy sauce) for dipping.

Serve them alongside our classic lasagna or baked tortellini for even more cheesy goodness.

Take your homemade pizza night up a notch by serving Crazy Bread alongside your favorite pizza. It’s a combo that’s sure to please.

Our garlic bread and cheesy pull apart bread are two more recipes that are loaded with butter and baked to perfection.

Storage

MAKE AHEAD: While it’s best to serve Crazy Bread fresh, you can prepare the dough logs ahead of time and refrigerate them. Bake and add the garlic butter and cheese just before serving.

IN THE FRIDGE: If you have leftovers of these homemade breadsticks, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat in the oven for that fresh-baked taste.

IN THE FREEZER: To freeze, wrap individual breadsticks in foil and place them in a freezer-safe bag. They can be stored for up to three months.

Reheat them in the oven or toaster oven to enjoy.

REHEATING: To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F, and place the breadsticks directly on the rack or on a baking sheet for 5-7 minutes.

Alternatively, you can microwave them briefly, but the oven will give you that crispy exterior.
