Easy Homemade Reindeer Food

By  |

Make a little homemade reindeer food and some precious memories with your family this holiday season!

This merry and bright idea is brought to you in partnership with Enbrighten

Our family completely loves the Christmas season.

When Ryan and I got married and then had the boys, we wanted to make special family traditions that we could do each year together.

As the boys grow, I look forward to each holiday season more and more as we do our traditions together and create memories. This year is no exception.

For the past several weeks, we’ve all been prepping for the big day.

I’ll happily admit that I’m one of those early decorators you see people talking about on social media. 😉

There has been oodles of baking, lots of decorating and more Christmas music and movies than seems humanly possible.

But of course, I think there’s still room for a little more! 😉

We have some some upcoming gatherings coming up with friends and family at our house, so I’m in full swing of putting the final touches on our decorations both indoors and out.

One day, while getting ready, I told my little guys they could make some reindeer food as we prepare for Santa and his reindeer to visit. It was the perfect task to keep them busy and couldn’t have been any easier — I’ll share those details with you in just a moment!

While the boys were busy with glitter and sprinkles, Ryan and I were prepping our backyard.

Since we live in Arizona, I love that we can entertain year round outside. It’s fun to decorate the backyard for the holidays and then welcome guests!

I grew up in the midwest, so I am used to freezing cold winters and snowy Christmases. Even after 15 years in Arizona, it’s an adjustment for me to be outside in a tee shirt in December. But it’s something I can live with. 😉

Jasco Enbrighten Lights

We’ve had Enbrighten Color Changing Landscape Lights and Enbrighten Seasons Color Changing Enbrighten Cafe Lights in our backyard for awhile.

They helped create a complete transformation of our backyard space that made it one of my favorite places to hang out as a family. It’s actually become a go-to spot for our entertaining when we have friends over.

I loved our lights so much after we installed them that I bought more to gift to my parents and Ryan’s parents. I knew they would enjoy them on their patios as well.

When I heard Enbrighten had a new product coming out — a mini product — I was delighted. I love small things!

I knew they’d be a great addition to our final preparations for Christmas. With their plethora of color options, Enbrighten lights are a great way to get ready for the holidays.

Just like the other Jasco Enbrighten products we already love, the new Enbrighten Color-Changing Mini Landscape Lights have a remote control for their amazing features. You can completely customize the lights multiple ways: dimming, using count down timers, using preset holiday themes, effects, white light and over 120 color combination possibilities.

Enbrighten Mini Lights for the Holidays

Their new Enbrighten Mini Landscape Lights are available in four different lengths: 6 pucks/10 feet, 12 pucks/22 feet, 24 pucks/46 feet, and 36 pucks/70 feet. Each length have 22 feet of lead wire and flexible 2-foot spacing between lights.

The lights are high quality and suitable for year-round use. They can be mounted virtually anywhere as well! They’re very easy to install and everything you need to complete your transformation is included in the box, making it a breeze to get started.

We have the Enbrighten Seasons Color-Changing Café Lights installed in our patio area. It’s the perfect area lighting to enjoy anytime we’re outside.

It’s also a great way to make the patio extra festive when we’re doing our holiday entertaining. I love how easy it is to switch up the color combinations and enjoy our space.

The Cafe Lights are made of durable, impact resistant acrylic Edison-style bulbs. I think they look so cool!

They won’t break if dropped, stepped on or blown around in the wind. They’re designed to withstand year-round exposure to the elements so you only have to set them up once. Then you can enjoy all the color options whenever you feel like it!

After Ryan and I had the lights installed, it was time for reindeer food. You can’t go wrong with this simple recipe.

Easy Reindeer Food for Christmas

Ingredients for Reindeer Food

I’m not kidding when I say this is easy.

I gave the boys a big bowl for mixing and a large container of uncooked oatmeal.

I let them choose their favorite sprinkles and edible glitters from my baking stash and then let them go to town.

They poured out the oatmeal and then added the sprinkles and glitter — in abundance. Their giggles of delight were completely contagious as they mixed the reindeer food together. It melted my heart to watch them working together.

Once the boys had their reindeer food made, we told them to head outside and help us spread it so Santa and his helpers knew where to come.

Seriously… I love them being little still and that they are so captivated by the magic of the season.

We shared lots of laughs as they poured out the reindeer food and drew arrows for a landing area.

Later that evening, we had friends over for a little Christmas party. The boys were beyond excited to show case their handiwork and explain to their friends how they made reindeer food on their own.

While the kids chatted about Santa, Ryan and I had fun entertaining the parents.

We received several compliments about the great lighting in our backyard and how festive everything looked.

I’m proud of how the lights turned out and how great the space is for entertaining.
