Testing The Best Premade Cinnamon Rolls

Making cinnamon rolls in the air fryer is fast, easy, and delivers delicious results! After testing different methods with a COSORI air fryer, we’ve found the best way to achieve golden, fluffy rolls every time.

For Grands-Style Cinnamon Rolls

For Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls (or similar large rolls), cook at 330°F for 10-12 minutes without parchment paper. There’s no need to flip — they cook evenly on their own.

For Smaller Cinnamon Rolls

For the smaller, 8-count 12.4-ounce Pillsbury Original Cinnamon Rolls (or similar), follow the package directions, then add an extra five minutes after flipping to achieve a golden-brown finish.

Our Recommendation

For the best results, use Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls or any rolls similar in size and weight. These give you the classic, bakery-style texture and look. The air fryer’s 330°F setting is perfect for a crispy outside and soft, gooey inside.

PRO TIP:

This sweet treat was cooked using the COSORI 5.8-quart air fryer. If your brand of air fryer is different, then I would suggest you check your cinnamon rolls for doneness at the 12-minute mark and go from there. Some brands may heat differently than this one.

Tips for Baking Cinnamon Rolls In Your Air Fryer

Since we are using store-bought cinnamon rolls, this recipe comes together in a snap.

Mistakes to Avoid

Want perfect air fryer cinnamon rolls? Here’s how to avoid common mistakes:

  1. Don’t overcrowd the basket — give the cinnamon rolls enough space to expand and cook evenly. Overcrowding can lead to rolls sticking together or cooking unevenly, so it’s better to cook them in batches if needed.

  2. If you don’t use parchment paper, you don’t need to flip the rolls — at 330°F, they’ll cook evenly in 10-12 minutes without any extra steps.

  3. Let the rolls sit for a minute or two after air frying. This short pause helps the texture settle and prevents scorching-hot icing disasters.

How To Serve

Use the icing that comes with the rolls. Drizzle generously over the warm rolls — and add a dash of cinnamon — for a melt-in-your-mouth finish.

While primarily a breakfast treat, cinnamon rolls also shine as a dessert, especially when topped with cream cheese frosting or caramel sauce.

Serving Suggestions for Special Occasions

      Storage

While they taste best fresh, here’s how to store leftover cinnamon rolls.

IN THE FRIDGE: These fluffy cinnamon rolls are quick and easy to make and are best served while still warm from the air fryer. Leftover cinnamon rolls do not keep well for very long after they are baked, making them a great item to have on hand, kept in the refrigerator in their original packaging, until ready to cook and serve.

IN THE FREEZER: We don’t recommend freezing these cinnamon rolls. They are best made fresh and won’t retain their perfect texture once thawed.

These fantastic little morsels are crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside, with a sweet and gooey center that will make your taste buds do backflips. These air fryer cinnamon rolls are so quick and easy to make, and clean-up takes no time at all.

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the air fryer cook the cinnamon rolls better than in the oven?

Air fryers are a great alternative to using the regular oven for many reasons. Air fryer recipes tend to cook faster than in the oven, don’t warm up the kitchen the way a regular oven would, and the best part is that clean-up is a snap!

      Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls

      No ratings yet
These are the best air fryer cinnamon rolls around with their warm ooey-gooey centers and cream cheese icing.
      Prep Time 2 minutes
      Cook Time 15 minutes
      Total Time 17 minutes
      Servings 5

      Ingredients

      • 17.5 ounce Pillsbury Grands Original Cinnamon Rolls, with icing
      • 2 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
      • teaspoon salt
      • 1 sprinkle cinnamon, optional garnish

      Instructions

      • Line the basket of your air fryer with a piece of parchment paper that is cut to fit. You do not need any cooking oil sprayed into the basket. The cinnamon rolls will not stick to the parchment paper.
      • Open your tube of cinnamon rolls, set your container of icing to the side, and pull apart the cinnamon rolls. Place the rolls into the parchment-lined air fryer basket leaving a little space between each roll.
      • Set your air fryer temperature to 330°F and your timer to 17 minutes. DO NOT PREHEAT your air fryer.
      • Cook the cinnamon rolls for 9 minutes, carefully flip them over using a spatula or tongs, then cook for another 6 to 8 minutes. You will want to check them at the 6-minute mark to ensure they are not over-browning.
      • Carefully remove the cinnamon rolls and place them onto a serving plate.
      • In a small bowl, with a handheld mixer on medium, beat together the softened cream cheese, salt, and the reserved container of icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls. Beat for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until smooth and fluffy.
      • Divide the cream cheese icing evenly between the cinnamon rolls. I like to spread the icing just barely to the edges of each cinnamon roll so that it does not run down the sides of the warm rolls.
      • You can sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon onto the tops of each cinnamon roll for added flavor and garnish.

      Notes

      • You will need to note that this easy recipe is for the GRANDS size rolls. These rolls have the traditional look of cinnamon rolls. The standard 12.4-ounce cinnamon rolls are more like little cinnamon biscuits. If you are going to use a different brand, I suggest you buy one that is as close to weight and size as the Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls.
      •  I tested this method of air frying canned cinnamon rolls with several variations. I tested different times and temperatures and found that the directions on the can of Grands Cinnamon Rolls for the “Air Fryer Method” were pretty accurate with my brand of air fryer (COSORI). I did try cooking them at the same temperature (330°F) without parchment paper and found that you need to reduce the cooking time to 10-12 minutes, and you do not need to flip them halfway through the cooking process.
      • This sweet treat was cooked using the COSORI 5.8-quart air fryer. If your brand of air fryer is different, then I would suggest you check your cinnamon rolls for doneness at the 12-minute mark and go from there. Some brands may heat differently than this one.
