Air-fried carrots offer a unique and wonderful flavor, unlike other cooked carrots.

The minimal oil used in air frying preserves the natural sweetness of the vegetable while adding a hint of smoky and slightly roasted taste.

When seasoned with parmesan cheese and herbs, the flavor of the carrots becomes even more delightful.

No matter what way you choose to prepare them, Air fryer carrots are sure to be a hit with both kids and adults alike.

You’ll need:

  • 1 pound bag of baby carrots, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (¼ cup)
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, divided in half
  • 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, divided in half
  • ½ teaspoon of fresh cracked black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese (optional garnish)
  • 2 teaspoons of fresh chopped parsley (optional garnish)

Substitutions And Additions

OLIVE OIL: You can substitute vegetable oil or avocado oil for the extra virgin olive oil for these roasted air fryer carrots.

CARROTS: You can substitute peeled and sliced whole carrots or rainbow carrots for the baby carrots.

SEASONING: You can also sprinkle different seasonings, such as smoked paprika, thyme, and fresh rosemary, or garnish this simple side dish with fresh chopped dill.

How To Make This Air Fryer Carrots Recipe

Using the air fryer to cook your carrots is an easy way to whip up a side dish in no time. The carrots come out with a perfect texture and plenty of flavors.

OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS

Make sure to check your air fryer manual for cooking time guidelines for your specific model, as times and temperatures vary depending on the type of air fryer you have.

STEP ONE: Add the sliced carrots to either a medium-sized mixing bowl or a gallon-size Ziplock bag.

PRO TIP:

We’d recommend a Ziploc bag to coat your carrots since that creates fewer dishes!

STEP TWO: Add the extra virgin olive oil to the bowl or Ziplock bag. Stir or shake to coat the carrots completely.

STEP THREE: Remove the air fryer basket and generously spray with non-aerosol non-stick cooking spray or olive oil, or avocado oil spray. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (about 3-4 minutes).

PRO TIP:

Aerosol sprays like Pam have been reported to damage the coating on the air fryer basket, so using aerosol sprays in air fryers is not recommended.

You can use aerosol olive oil or avocado oil without a problem or non-aerosol olive oil.

STEP FOUR: Add the sliced and coated carrots halves in a single layer. You will need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer basket.

Sprinkle with ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, and ¼ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper.

STEP FIVE: Place the basket back into the air fryer and air fry carrots for 8 minutes. Carefully remove the basket and shake the carrots to turn them. (You can also stir the carrots with a wooden spoon.)

Replace the basket and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until the carrots are nicely browned but not burnt. Remove the carrots.
