Cooking the Lasagna

PRO TIP:

Make sure to consult your Instant Pot manual to ensure you are using the correct settings for your specific model.

STEP ONE: Add 1½ cups of water to the pot.

STEP TWO: Place the covered lasagna pan on a trivet with handles and then place it in the pot.

STEP THREE: Lock the lid and seal the valve.

STEP FOUR: Press the Manual button twice and set the time to 25 minutes.

STEP FIVE: Allow natural release for 10 minutes. Then, perform a quick release.

STEP SIX: Open the Instant Pot and transfer the lasagna out.

STEP SEVEN: Remove foil.

STEP EIGHT: Place on a baking sheet in the oven on broil until the cheese begins to brown. Watch it closely so it doesn’t burn.

Removing the Lasagna from the Pan

STEP ONE: Remove the lasagna from the oven, and let it rest on a cooling rack for 15 minutes. This will help maintain its shape when you try to remove it from the pan.

STEP TWO: Release the lasagna from the sides of the springform pan.

STEP THREE: Garnish with fresh parsley and parmesan cheese if desired. Slice and serve.

How To Serve

I love lasagna served with Caesar salad and cheesy pull-apart bread on the side. It’s the perfect Italian combo. I also like to serve my lasagna with garlic bread, or any kind of bread for that matter.

Storage

IN THE FRIDGE: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

IN THE FREEZER: You can also freeze leftover lasagna stored in an airtight container for up to three months.

REHEATING: Reheating pasta can be tricky. I find that often, the noodles can get a bit soggy. To prevent this, I usually cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake it in the oven until the inside is completely heated all the way through. Sometimes it can take around half an hour, but it’s totally worth the wait to reheat using this technique.

We love lasagna – all Italian really! – and I’m excited to try this in the Instant Pot!

  2. Ron says

Where did you find the Lasagna Noodles like shown in your recipe? I hate the Flat No Boil Lasagna Noodles. I’ve even thought of soaking Regular Lasagna Noodles in boiling water to soften and then layer with ingredients before adding to my IP. I’ve done 1 in my IP, but want to change it up with different noodles. Did save your recipe.

    • Layne Henderson says

We just got regular no-boil lasagna noodles at our grocery store! Good luck and enjoy! 🙂

    • Vanessa says

I feel your pain on the cardboard no boil noodles. Next time I make this I’m totally trying your idea and slightly cooking regular lasagna noodles that actually taste nice.

  3. Kathy Shoemaker says

This is in my insta pot right now! I’m so excited to try it! I added some fresh mozzarella on the top. It was a little time consuming to make but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. Thanks for the recipe!

  4. Peggy says

Can you tell me the springform pan you used? I have a 7”x2.25” & the recipe was too much. We really enjoyed it but want to find a pan to fit all of it in!
    Thanks, Peggy

    • Layne Henderson says

This is the pan we used > https://amzn.to/2IqTJfC When I made the recipe myself, I had a few noodles from the box leftover but no meat or filling. The pan dimensions are 6.9 x 6.9 x 2.6 inches – hope that helps!

An amazing meal that is so simple to put together.

  6. Susan says

wish I knew what size Instant Pot most of these recipes call for…..mine is a 3 qt; should I just cut all the ingredients in half? and…find a smaller springform pan…?

    • Layne Henderson says

It’s an 8-quart Instant Pot with a 7-inch springform pan, so you would need to adjust for your smaller IP. Hope you enjoy 🙂

  7. Sue says

Why do you push manual button twice? Is it cooked on medium pressure? Or low? Seems like most stuff cooked on high😳

    • Layne Kangas says

On mine, it allows me to adjust the cooking time to 25 minutes.

  8. Stacey says

I just made this tonight and the noodles turned out really dry and crunchy still. Did I miss a step?

    • Layne Kangas says

Oh no! I haven’t had that happen. Did you add the water? And did you use no-boil noodles?

      • Stacey L Castillo says

I added the water and used no boil noodles. I wonder if maybe I didnt have enough sauce covering? Family still loved the taste and didnt mind the crunchiness. I’ll definitely try it again! Thanks for the delicious recipe!

      • Layne Kangas says

Hmm, yes, maybe add a little more sauce. I’m sorry it wasn’t just perfect! I hope you’ll try again – have an awesome day 🙂

  9. Louanne says

Just bought the ip with crisper, can’t wait to try this using the crisper lid instead of broiler.

  10. Kimmy says

Can I use cottage cheese instead of The Ricotta cheese?

  11. Kelly says

I have a ninja foodi, is it 25 minutes still with pressure cook button on hi? Or do I press pressure cook twice for medium 25 minutes?

    • Layne Kangas says

I have never used a Ninja Foodi… I am guessing the high setting would work for you!

  12. Nica says

Do I have to use a spring form pan or can I just do it in my Instapot if i don’t have one?

    • Layne Kangas says

I think if you did it without the spring form pan, you’d have to try and slice it out of the pan without being able to remove it for serving. I’m not sure how well it would hold up!

  13. Jill says

I’ll be trying to make this tonight – I haven’t been able to find the no boil noodles with everything going on now a days … any suggestions with regular noodle use? Thank you!!

    • AJ says

I think they are also called “Oven Ready”

LOVE this, and the end presentation!!!!!

I love this lasagna recipe. My lasagna came out beautiful and with so much flavor. I subbed in half lb of the ground beef for mild italian sausage and it was wow delicious!! I had to finally buy a springform pan for this (7 ” I found on Amazon). It is the best accessory I have bought since buying the actual instant pot. I use a 6 qt. size IP. The circular shape it gives is so beautiful. It looks like a lasagna layer cake! Instant and beautiful presentation right out of the IP. I wanted to stick some bday candles in it and make a wish, it was so pretty. Your instructions were super helpful and I just love your recipe! My family (hubby and our 4 year old son) loved it too. A winner recipe right here and I’ll keep this one handy! Thank you so much!!

  16. Cecily says

I made this in a 6 quart instapot with a 7 inch spring form pan! Turned out good.

  17. Dianah Crane says

Delicious! We made this tonight using our 8 qt Instant Pot with a Fat Daddio 8 inch pan (purchased on Amazon). We followed the recipe exactly and stuck with the same 6 servings directions. This served 4 adults & have a 1/3 of the lasagna for left overs. We will make this again.

    • Kelly says

Which 8in Fat Daddio pan did you use? I also have an 8qt and want to buy the 8x3in round cheesecake pan, where you push the cake out of the pan from the bottom. Or did you get the springform pan?
      Thanks!

  18. Leah says

Is there an IP springform attachment or will any Springform pan work for the recipe?

    • Monet says

I used a regular 7” springform pan that I bought from Walmart

  19. Grace says

Best lasagna I’ve ever made, and so easy to do

  20. Mandy says

I mangled this recipe is just about every way possible except for time under pressure and natural release time and it STILL came out good. Definitely going on my rotation list. Just a suggestion for others: this recipe is even simpler and faster if you make up meat sauce in advance and freeze it in meal sized portions. I cook pasta sauce with ground turkey by the gallon and it comes out of the freezer just fine as needed. If you’re browning, measuring, simmering and stirring anyway, why not?

  21. Annie says

When I hit manual twice it goes to Normal – is this correct or should I select High?

    • Layne Kangas says

Oh, your model might be different. Yes, high!

  22. Key Cow says

Where do I get the pan that fits into my instant pot?

    • Layne Kangas says

You’ll just need to measure your Instant Pot and then you should be able to search for a spring form pan that fits. For this recipe, I am using an 8-quart Instant Pot and a 7-inch springform pan. Enjoy!

  23. RL says

Wanting to try this recipe, but I don’t have a metal trivet with handles. Would the steamer basket that came with the pot suffice?

    • Layne Kangas says

I think so but I haven’t tried it so I cannot say for certain!

  24. Alicia says

LOVED this lasagna! Hubby loved it too! I made it w/ regular brown rice lasagna noodles, added a layer of spinach, and it turned out great! Thx so much!

  25. Joni says

Does the pan need to be greased or sprayed with cookin spray?

    • Layne Kangas says

I use a non-stick pan but you could use a layer of cooking spray just to be safe. Enjoy 🙂
