Father’s Day Gift Basket Ideas

By  |

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies and a gift basket of goodies are the perfect way to let dad know you care!

My husband, Ryan, is such a gift to me.

We met nine years ago at a friend’s house. The night we met, we talked for three hours, standing in a parking lot, long after everyone else had left.

Silly me though: I was kind of oblivious to what was happening though.

We went our separate ways.

A year later, I ran into his dad at church and inquired how Ryan was.

It wasn’t too long after that we went on our first date… then we were engaged… then we were married.

Now I cannot imagine my life without Ryan in it.

He’s my perfect partner, my dearest friend, the love of my life.

It’s interesting the twists and turns we experience in life and the places it leads us to.

I am so thankful for where we arrived.

Now not only do I have the pleasure being in love with my sweetheart, I get the joy of raising two amazing little boys with him.

I didn’t think I could be any more crazy in love with him than I already was… when we welcomed Rowen and Dax into our family… everything I thought I knew about love intensified.

We are about to celebrate Father’s Day — which I think is always special. I love honoring not only my dad and father-in-law but Ryan as well. He’s an incredible father!

Of course, our little guys love to get in on the action.

Father's Day Gift Basket Ideas

I’m proud to partner with Gillette at Walmart for this conversation.

This year, we decided to create a gift basket to treat Ryan and say thank you!

The boys had a great time helping me select goodies to tuck inside.

Best Father's Day Gift Baskets

We chose a couple fun tee shirts, Ryan’s favorite Gillette products and some truly delicious homemade double chocolate chip cookies. More on those soon.

I like selecting gifts that are something that can be used and appreciated.

Ryan uses Gillette products every day — they’re his favorite. He’s tried a number of products and nothing compares to the quality he receives from Gillette.

Since he loved them so much, I actually snagged one of his razors one day… and now I prefer them for myself, too! (Hey, what’s yours is mine when you’re married, right?!) 😉

Best Products for Dad

Just in time for Father’s Day, you can snag Gillette products at Walmart on rollback. You can save even more when pairing it with the brandSAVER coupon from the June 3rd paper or online at pgeveryday.com.

Even though my guys are still little, I know that the next years will fly by.

Shaving with Dad

Naturally, they already like to pretend they’re shaving and try to be grown up like dad. Ryan often gives them a handful of shaving cream to lather up with while he’s shaving.

Learning to Shave with Dad

It won’t be many years before they’re really shaving… hard to comprehend.

In the meantime, I will soak up the moments they’re still little. My heart could bust I love them so.

I’ll also readily accept their little hands helping me in the kitchen. Especially when it comes to baking treats for Father’s Day gift baskets!

Ingredients for Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

These simple cookies will have everyone begging you for the recipe. They’re the best!

You can make them thick, soft and chewy or a little more crispy depending on your preferences.

Let’s talk about the ingredients you’ll need to make this divine treat.

We’ll be using all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, unsalted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, molasses and milk chocolate chips.

I’ve also experimented with adding treats like dark chocolate chips, oatmeal, mint extract and salted caramel various times when baking these.

The verdict: you can’t go wrong!

How to Make Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Before starting to mix, preheat your oven to 325 degrees.

Place flour, cocoa powder and baking soda in a bowl and then stir to combine. Set aside once mixed.

Best Ever Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Portion out one to two tablespoons of batter onto a prepared cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes.

You’ll want to watch closely and adjust your baking time based on how big you make your cookies and also your cookie preference: crispy or chewy.

Delicious Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

After removing from the oven, allow the cookies to set for one minute before transferring them to a cooling rack.

I used “dad sized” scoops for our cookies and this recipe made 20 cookies once baked.

For our Father’s Day gift basket, I tucked all our gifts into a wooden box that can be re-used for storage.

I filled the box with paper, then tucked in the tee shirts and Gillette products that I know Ryan loves. I bagged the double chocolate chip cookies and tucked them in last.

I know he’ll love the basket and the boys will love giving it to him.

Cheers to all the amazing dads!
