You’ll need: 

For The Biscuits:

  • 2¼ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon of minced fresh chives
  • 1 cup of milk, 2%
  • 1¾ cups of shredded medium cheddar cheese
  • 10 slices cooked bacon, chopped

For The Topping:

  • ¼ cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ tablespoon of minced fresh chives
  • 1 teaspoon of dried parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder

Substitutions And Additions

CHEESE: You can use your favorite type of cheese in place of the cheddar in these delicious biscuits. Some great options are provolone, Swiss, Colby jack, or Monterey jack. If you want to add a little spice, you could also try pepper jack.

BACON: You can make your own bacon and chop it yourself or use store-bought bacon bits instead in this cheddar biscuit recipe.

MILK: While 2% milk works best for these cheddar cheese biscuits, you could also use low-fat milk or whole milk.

How To Make This Bacon Cheddar Biscuits Recipe

These biscuits are as easy as making the batter, scooping them onto a baking sheet, and popping them in the oven. Smother them in butter and enjoy!

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 425°F. 

STEP TWO: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

STEP THREE: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt.

STEP FOUR: Add the melted butter, chives, and milk to the dry ingredients. Stir well to mix.

STEP FIVE: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and bacon pieces just until mixed. 

STEP SIX: Using a large cookie scoop (¼ cup size), scoop out the biscuit dough onto the parchment paper making 12 biscuits about 1 inch apart.

Oven temperatures vary and may need to be recalibrated periodically to ensure they are accurate. Make sure to check your biscuits at the lower end of the recommended baking time.

STEP EIGHT: Using a small bowl mix all topping ingredients together and spoon evenly over the tops of each warm biscuit.
