Never Think About What to Make for Dinner for the Next Two Months with My Lazy Cooking Bundle
If you’re like me and you believe you can never go wrong with monkey bread, you’re going to want to inhale these monkey bread muffins.
It’s the muffin recipe of all muffin recipes. I mean, it’s monkey bread, so that right there is an instant win. While you’re at it, you’re also going to want to check out our orange monkey bread as or our incredible cinnamon roll monkey bread.
Monkey Bread Muffins:
For those who don’t know, monkey bread is made when small pieces of dough are coated in a sugary cinnamon mixture and then baked in a caramel like sauce. After baking, the soft dough pieces are easy ripped off to be enjoyed.
I have always loved this breakfast!
I like the idea of making monkey bread into muffins because sometimes, regular monkey bread can be a bit hard to serve. Making them into muffins makes it quick and easy for everyone to grab their own muffin and pull it apart to enjoy the tastiness.
Below you’ll find the four (yes, ONLY four) ingredients needed for these delicious muffins along with the instructions for how to make them. I won’t be surprised to hear that they are a new favorite of yours as well.
Monkey Bread Muffin Ingredients You Will Need
- 2 cans of prepared country-style biscuits
- 1/2 cup of white sugar
- 1 tbsp of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of butter (melted)
You might also opt to make a homemade glaze for the muffins. I love the sweet and creamy addition that the icing adds. If you choose to do so, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 3/4 cup icing sugar
- 2 tbsp of milk
How to Make Monkey Bread Muffins
First, you’ll want to preheat the oven to 350 degrees F so that it’s ready to go after you put the muffins together.
Next, in a medium bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Take the prepared country style biscuits out of their package and cut each biscuit into 6 smaller pieces.
Once cut, add small batches of biscuit pieces to the bowl of sugar mixture and coat them well with the mix.
Gently press pieces of coated dough into a greased muffin tin. You can also use paper liners if you prefer. Be careful not to overfill the muffin tins. The biscuits will rise significantly!
Next, add the melted butter to the remaining sugar and cinnamon mixture and stir to combine well. Then, spoon 2-3 tbsp of your butter and sugar mixture onto each muffin. Again, do NOT overfill!
Bake the muffins for 20 minutes or until they are cooked through.
If you choose to put icing on the muffins you will want to mix the icing sugar and milk and when the muffins are finished, drizzle the icing over the cooled muffins.
There are a surprising number of ways to change up your monkey bread muffins. The easiest and most common way to serve them is with the icing recipe above.
But other popular items to add or serve with your muffins include: cream cheese, cinnamon apple, or caramel. They are all amazing options. You can definitely get creative with your monkey bread muffin recipe.
I especially love making muffins, because they tend to be really easy to throw together the very morning I’m going to serve them. The smell fills the house instantly and I can enjoy the aroma while I sip my coffee.

Drooooling – these look incredible!!!!
I just recently made pizza monkey bread, it was awesome. I’m looking to make apple monkey bread
Is this recipe (says 9 servings) designed for a 6 slot muffin pan as shown in your YouTube video?
I’m going to attempt to make for 14 people this weekend (and want MORE than enough) so I’m trying to figure out how to proportion for two 12 slot muffin pans (24 muffins).
The recipe measurements in the recipe card will make 9 muffins, so you’ll want to adjust those accordingly 🙂 It sounds like you might need to triple the recipe. I hope your whole gang enjoys!
Can you use butter style biscuits
You probably could!
These sound awesome. I bet using cinnamon rolls instead of the biscuits would be good too.
My kids love these muffins for breakfast. Great paired with vanilla yogurt and fresh fruit.
Where dies the vinegar come in?
Hi, Mary – there is no vinegar in this recipe. Hope you enjoy!
