Planned by the creative team at Send in the Clowns, no details were spared. A beachy vibe was created by styling preppy party decorations in shades of blue and white. Gorgeous desserts by the talented at Blue Cupcake were definitely a highlight of this over-the-top soiree designed with beach-themed elements at its core. The birthday boy’s family and party guests will be talking about this party for years to come.
A tented affair, just steps from the beach—this bash had it all. There were hanging beach balls, balloon columns, and even a big balloon “B” for the birthday boy Billy. Plus, beach chairs for lounging and sun umbrellas for party guests’ comfort were an especially fun touch. Fabulous overhead signage gave that beach boardwalk feel and brought unity to the look of the party.
Blue and white beach balls punctuated the party space to bring in that preppy beach vibe. Clusters of balloons were creatively hung overhead! Burlap buntings with “beach” and “beach bash” were festively displayed. Be sure to zoom in on the photos to see how sand pails and beach buckets were used creatively on the food and dessert tables.
The “snack shack” consisted of banquet tables with bowls and chaffing dishes piled high with the main menu dishes and sides. As the pictures prove, there was no shortage of food at this beach bash. Having a separate area for the main meal, away from the dessert area was a great idea to keep things from getting too crowded.
“Billy’s Beach Bungalow and Souvenir Shop” displayed an incredible assortment of treats and party favors. The cabana striped awning is such an eye-catching display element. And the blue cloud backdrop set the scene for a fabulous dessert display.
There were stacks of beach pails and shovels with custom tags that read, “I dig you! Hope you had a ball!” Guests could use those to scoop up treats for goodie bags or sand for playing!
A large bucket held “Billy’s Beach Bubbles” in the cutest silver tins. A tall pile of sailor hats with coordinating labels was ready for seafaring guests to enjoy. Did you notice the mini bottles of sunscreen on the souvenir shop table? You can’t have a beach party without sunscreen! What a perfect party favor that is both practical and creative!
A sea of treats and candy was also available at the souvenir shop. We are obsessed with the sugar cookies shaped like waves and swim trunks, each individually packaged. This is great to keep the sand out until the cookies can be eaten!
Salt water taffy and gummy rings filled jars tied with “life’s beachy” labels.
Awesome sugar-sand-topped cupcakes were embellished with candy and beach-inspired fondant details. Housed in nautical-inspired cupcake wrappers, they were displayed on a multi-tiered stand.
And just look at that masterfully created two-tiered cake that serves as the focal point of the dessert stand and table! That sand castle topper is incredible! We love the fondant waves and fish too. Billy’s name in fondant was a great way to recognize him on the cake!
We bet guests enjoyed filling up their adorable striped favor bags with treats of their choosing. Who wouldn’t want to take home a bag of Billy’s beach sweets? Aren’t the custom labels such a great detail? Printable designs go a long way when it comes to creating a cohesive, custom look.
A party on the sand means a party in the sun! Dehydration wasn’t a concern for this party crew. A “barefoot” beverage bar was set up for keeping guests hydrated. From the looks of it, the bar was fully stocked for a great day of celebrating.
Dressing up the cute dining tables was not overlooked at this party! The tables were decked out in mini sailboats, bottles of sunscreen, and sand castle centerpieces.
Cabana striped runners layered on burlap runners were accented with starfish to match the theme and color palette.
Since this party was planned to celebrate a one-year-old, it is certain that fellow baby friends were on the guest list! We love that much consideration for little guests was given.
There were lots of sand shovels for digging, beach umbrellas set up for sun protection, sand tables for playing, and containers of cabana-striped towels for sand-free sitting during a music performance (“Tunes in the Dunes”). “Towels for tunes” has a great ring to it, doesn’t it?
Another fun activity idea included blow-up pools shaped like whales that were filled with colored balls for a theme-coordinating ball pit. It appears kids really had a “Whale of a Time” at this activity station.
For those wanting to “make an impression”, a craft station was set up to make footprints in the sand. How clever! What a great way to thank guests for making a good impression!
The question is, are you impressed? This beach bash’s first birthday is full of inspiring ideas that if followed will result in your own amazing beach-inspired celebration!
