This buckeye fudge has plenty of Ohio spirit and is one of the most delicious and easiest recipes around. The sweet and creamy confection is the perfect flavor combination of chocolate and peanut butter for a treat you won’t be able to resist.

You’ll need:

For The Peanut Butter Fudge Layer:

  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1½ cups of creamy peanut butter (NOT a natural no-stir variety)
  • 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • 3½ cups of powdered sugar, sifted

For The Chocolate Layer:

  • 1¾ cups of milk chocolate chips
  • 1½ tablespoons of salted sweet cream butter, softened
  • ⅔ cup of sweetened condensed milk

Substitutions And Additions

PEANUT BUTTER: You can use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy in this easy fudge.

CHOCOLATE CHIPS: Dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips can be used instead of milk chocolate chips for this homemade fudge.

How To Make This Buckeye Fudge Recipe

For The Peanut Butter Fudge Layer

STEP ONE: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a slight overhang for easy removal from the pan. Set it aside.

Lining the pan with overhanging parchment paper will make lifting the fudge out of the pan to slice much easier.

STEP TWO: In a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl, add the butter and peanut butter. Heat in the microwave for 60 seconds.

Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave. Add the vanilla extract and stir until well combined.

STEP THREE: Slowly add the sifted powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, stirring with a wooden spoon until all the powdered sugar is completely incorporated and there are no streaks or lumps of powdered sugar remaining.

STEP FOUR: Pour the peanut butter mixture into the prepared pan and, using a spatula, smooth it out into an even layer.

STEP FIVE: Set it aside while you prepare the chocolate layer.

For The Chocolate Layer

STEP ONE: Using a medium-sized heat-safe bowl, add the chocolate chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk.

STEP TWO: Heat in the microwave for 45 seconds. Stir, and continue heating in 15-second intervals and stirring until the mixture is smooth. 

STEP THREE: Using a silicone or offset spatula, evenly spread the melted chocolate over the top of the peanut butter layer.

PRO TIP:

To help cut the fudge after chilling, score a grid on the top of the fudge when it is barely set but still warm.

STEP FOUR: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours. 

STEP FIVE: Grab the overhanging parchment and remove the fudge from the pan. 

STEP SIX: Slice the fudge into 1-inch x 1-inch squares.

PRO TIP:

When slicing the chocolate peanut butter fudge, you can dip the knife in warm water after each cut. Carefully wipe the knife before slicing.

IN THE FREEZER: You can also freeze the fudge for up to 2 months. Wrap this simple recipe in plastic, then in foil. Allow the fudge to thaw before serving.

    I make peanut butter buckeyes all the time but this is a. Simpler recipe. To make And share I will make this for my next get together

    My husband loves anything that even resembles Reeses so this was a huge hit with him. If stored in a tightly sealed container in the fridge, they will last a while; considering this recipe makes a good bit of fudge.
