You may not use both full cans of chili in your casserole dish. You can heat any leftovers and serve alongside the baked chili cheese dogs.

PRO TIP:

Place the chili around the wrapped crescent dogs instead of under the crescent dogs for the best results on cooking everything through completely.

STEP SEVEN: Melt butter in a small dish and stir in the garlic salt/powder.

Use a pastry brush to brush the melted butter mixture over the tops of the exposed crescent rolls.

PRO TIP:

The garlic butter gives the tops of the crescents some flavor and a bit of sheen. You could also brush the butter sauce on after the casserole has finished baking or even omit the butter sauce.

PRO TIP:

The crescent rolls take a bit longer to bake on the bottom than it takes to heat the chili through and brown the top of the crescent rolls.

If you use a clear glass baking dish, you can check the bottom of the dish to make sure that the crescent rolls have browned on the bottom.

If needed, place a sheet of aluminum foil over the top of the casserole dish if the crescents are becoming too brown and the bottoms are not yet done.
