Substitutions And Additions
LIME JUICE: If you don’t have freshly squeezed lime juice on hand, bottled lime juice can be substituted in this tasty recipe.
How To Make This Strawberry Daiquiri Jello Shots Recipe
If you’ve ever made jello shots before, this is no different except for one thing: the container you are using is not plastic but a juicy, hollowed-out strawberry!
You’ll prepare your strawberries and set them on a tray – cut the bottom off to make it flat so that it will sit nicely.
You’ll make the jello the usual way, except that you will use rum and lime juice to replace some of the cold water added to the mixture.
Pour the jello into the strawberries and chill. Once they are ready, your guests can pop them in their mouths for a refreshing treat.
OUR RECIPE DEVELOPER SAYS
The number of jello shots will depend on the size of the strawberries (and hollowed-out area). Unless the strawberries are gigantic, the inside of the strawberries won’t hold much more than a couple of teaspoons of jello. You can also pour some of the extra liquid into traditional jello shot cups.
STEP ONE: In a medium bowl or large (4-cup) measuring cup with a spout, whisk together the strawberry jello mix and 1 cup of boiling water until the jello is fully dissolved.
PRO TIP:
To save time and dishes, I boil the 1 cup water in the microwave right in the glass measuring cup I mix everything up in.
STEP TWO: Once the jello is fully dissolved, stir in the cold water, lime juice, and rum. Mix until combined.
STEP THREE: Use a strawberry corer or sharp paring knife to cut the stem from each strawberry and hollow out a bit of a cavity to fill with the jello.
Shave off just a bit from the bottom part of the strawberries can stand up.
STEP FOUR: Carefully pour the jello mixture into each strawberry. You can use a food syringe or a squirt bottle or simply pour with a steady hand.
STEP FIVE: Transfer jello shots to the refrigerator and chill for two to three hours until set.
STEP SIX: Just before serving, roll the top of each strawberry in granulated sugar and garnish with a very small lime wedge.

Would you serve these for game day or the holidays?
I think these are a cute idea for something different for the holidays! Could maybe even swap the strawberry jello for lime and have Christmas colors. ๐ Definitely will be making these for the holidays this year!
