This DIY Baby Lamb Halloween Costume is the perfect idea for your little one.
Have you figured out your kids’ Halloween costumes this year?
We’ve kind of waited until the last minute just because life has been so busy. Whoops.
I decided to have a little simple, DIY fun with this homemade costume idea.
After all, big kids have opinions but moms get to choose for the littles. 😉
I figure they might hate it when they’re older but the photo ops are just too great to pass up!
This DIY baby lamb Halloween costume was inspired by a costume from my own childhood. Thanks, mom.
I present to you the most ridiculously adorable little sheep that ever was.
And if you’ve never believed the adage, “like mother, like son,” you will now. This throwback inspiration is me.
My older sister was dressed as Little Bo Peep that year. Suspiciously, could my mom locate any pictures of my big sister’s costume. Hmmm.
I couldn’t convince my older son to recreate the experience.
But when a little lamb is this sweet, what does it matter?
I had so much fun making this stinkin’ cute costume and it really is easy. The most difficult part was being patient while everything dried. I could hardly wait to have Dax model my creativity.
Look at that darling little face and those big blue eyes.
So much preciousness.
I could hardly wait to get the costume on him and take some pictures.
Ready to get started so you can create your own little lamb?
Let’s talk about the supplies you need!
Materials for a DIY Baby Lamb Halloween Costume
I belt you’ll have most the supplies around your house already, making this the perfect Halloween costume DIY idea!
You’ll need a white tee shirt, fabric glue, white hat/beanie, cotton balls, felt, marker, scissors and cardboard.
I seem to always have a steady supply of cardboard in my house from breaking down the boxes the UPS guy leaves for me.
I might have a slight Amazon addiction. 😉
But I digress… let’s get back to this cute costume!
How to Make a DIY Baby Lamb Halloween Costume
We’re using the cardboard to keep the glue from sticking the shirt together, so don’t worry about it being a fancy piece!
To begin, insert cardboard into shirt (into the torso and sleeves).
Then, start applying glue around the collar of the shirt. Press cotton balls onto the glue. Work your way down the shirt, on the front and the back until the shirt is covered with cotton balls. Allow to dry.
While that’s drying a little, fold felt in half and draw an ear shape, then cut it out.
Next, fold the hat to where the stitches are in front; glue felt ears onto hat. Let dry completely before applying cotton balls to the top.
Finally, once dry, you’ll apply the glue to the top of the hat and add cotton balls around the top quarter of the hat.
Make sure to let it dry completely.
You’ll want to note that the shirt was a little stiff from the glue, so I’d suggest loosening the shirt a tad before putting it on, just to make it more comfortable.
Now that you’ve made the costume… you can take pictures.
And keep them for future blackmail. Bwahaha.
