I am so excited for Easter! We have family coming in from out of town and I am looking forward to our time together. As with any gathering, I’m now looking for cute Easter recipe ideas that the kids will love. I’m a big believer that no shindig is complete without fun snacks and desserts for kids. Who am I kidding? I love themed foods for any occasion, party or not! These easy Easter bunnies made from Twinkies are SO SIMPLE to create and so much fun to serve.

I love it when an uncomplicated dessert adds to the decorations. I can picture using these bunnies in several ways:

  • Cute snack at a classroom party
  • Easy idea for a Sunday school class
  • Starring on an Easter Bunny themed dessert table
  • Surprise for your little one after an egg hunt
  • Fun after school snack
  • Welcome-to-Spring-break treat
  • Great addition on a woodland themed party dessert table

Ingredients

  • Hostess Twinkies
  • Candy Eyes — two for each Twinkie
  • Pink Candy — one for each Twinkie
  • Candy Melts in Pink and Purple

Instructions

  • 1. Using a sharp knife, cut a Twinkie in the middle, just shy of halfway.
  • 2. Melt your candy melts — I use small sandwich bags. Just place the candy melts inside {pink and purple should be in separate bags} and then place in hot water to melt. Massage with your hands to make sure they’re melted evenly.
  • 3. Using the pink, snip the corner of your candy melt bag and pipe on pink for the bunny ears over the area that you cut.
  • 4. Place a dab of pink for the eye and nose as well to help them stick on, then put on the candy eyes and nose.
  • 5. Use the purple to pipe on whiskers.
