Easy Homemade Cereal Bar Recipe + A Little Boyish Imagination

By  |

A little imagination with favorite Cars 3 characters plus easy, homemade cereal bar treats make for the perfect afternoon!

If you’ve been following along lately, you’ll know that I’ve been making a big effort to create more fun in our home.

This resolve came after my oldest son recently told me he wanted to leave our house to have fun.

Without realizing it, I had been creating an atmosphere of go, go, go where my boys thought we had to leave home in order to have a good time together. Big wake up call!

Once I realized this, I started planning more activities at home that we can enjoy together so they know that home is one of the very best places to be.

Family Playtime

The happy result is I’ve been soaking up the playtime with my two favorite little guys lately.

It’s made me appreciate all over again how funny and creative they both are.

They keep me giggling non stop. The two of them could be hit writers with some of the story lines they dream up!

Disney Cars 3 Toys

On a recent stormy afternoon, I pulled some new loot from the closet. I tucked it away for just such an occasion. I knew the boys would go wild: they were toys based on Disney-Pixar movie Cars 3!

I was right — they were in love.

Disney Cars 3 Toys

They were obsessed with how the big semi trailers open up and unfold. They were able to play while they were open and then fold them up and drive off for another adventure.

Both boys quickly claimed a handful of the toys as their “own” and in no time were busy playing alongside each other.

The fascination didn’t wear off either. Several days later, Ryan and I were working in the garage. Before I knew it, the boys were bringing out their Cars 3 toys and playing in the driveway next to us while we worked.

Playing with Cars Toys

The boys have fun driving the cars around and loading up the semi trailers. Plus, they quickly were replaying their favorite parts of the movie and creating their own shoot off story lines inspired by their favorite characters.

I relished in hearing their little voices chattering away and giggling with some of their lines as they made up their stories.

You can snag the toys at Walmart — so easy to grab while doing your other shopping.

I have no doubt, these will be HOURS of fun for a long time to come.

While they were busy playing, I decided to make them a Cars 3 inspired cereal bars to enjoy together. I think treats inspired by favorite shows are some of the very best kind.
