Review RecipeScotch & Chocolate 40th Birthday – Chocolate/Food
Table of Contents
So here’s the second of two posts on my husband’s Scotch and Chocolate themed 40th birthday. The first one was about the single malt scotch so, naturally, this one is all about the chocolate and food (as I mentioned before, we used the Vintage Car Collection that Janelle created for our decor and Catherine of Goodness Bakeshop did the catering).
Since we went all out with the scotch, we wanted to make the chocolates equally as special. I selected handmade truffles and handmade chocolates from a local chocolatier. I also had chocolate covered pretzels, some amazing chocolate peanut butter fudge and Catherine’s chocolate chip cookies. With the handmade truffles and chocolate, I was careful to choose flavors of chocolate that I thought would bring out flavors in the single malt scotch.
Here’s a reminder of what the overall table looked like:
These were the handmade truffles. They were all sorts of awesome.
These were called “deco” truffles. Each flavor had its own beautiful pattern.
These were the handmade chocolates (by the way, doesn’t Janelle’s placemat look awesome?).
Here’s the birthday cake – Catherine’s famous (at least with our family and friends) orange basil flavor.
Since it was Mike’s 40th, we wanted to make things a little special for our family and friends. We had Goodness Bakeshop develop a “bite-size” menu that we could serve throughout the night. With both hot and cold selections, it included:
And these were the bite sized open face samosas with mango yogurt. If I had to choose, these were my favorites. Although everything Catherine made truly was delicious.
Happy Birthday to my awesome husband!
