Family Movie Night: Rainbow Popcorn + Trolls

This post is sponsored by DreamWorks. All opinions are my own.

After busy school days and playdates, it always surprises me that my kids aren’t more content to lay low on the weekend. At the end of a full work week, the adults in this household sure look forward to a little punching out! One great solution: watching Trolls during family movie night.

Like lots of moms, I’m always on the lookout for fun entertainment with a positive message for my little guys. For my top rating, it must be something of quality, it cannot be too scary, or cost too much. Extra points if it amuses the whole family.

My latest treasure in that category: DreamWorks’ Trolls. It’s a colorful antidote to winter doldrums!

From the creative team at DreamWorks (the masterminds behind Shrek), Trolls is a must-own, feel-good, music-filled adventure. Grumpy, giant Bergens invade Troll Village where Poppy and Branch, two mismatched friends, work together to save their friends.

Throughout their adventure, you discover a stunning, tiny-troll universe full of fanciful creatures who sing and dance their way into your imagination—and the vocals are wonderful! The music includes original songs by Justin Timberlake.

Rainbow colors add to the feel-good vibe. Characters appear to be almost dimensional because of the phenomenal artistry.

And you know how you wish a great movie would keep on rolling? Well, this one does.

Bonus features offer a lot of extras, including a sing-along with on-screen lyrics in Party Mode, a tour of the Troll village and Branch’s bunker, and deleted scenes you couldn’t see in theaters. Plus learn secrets behind the film’s dazzling animation.

Rainbow Popcorn

And don’t forget the popcorn! We made this rainbow version to go with our family movie night. It’s a simple upgrade and it’s an easy recipe for kids to do. After drizzling the melting chocolate, we added sprinkles on top. My boys had the best time helping me make it. And eat it!
