Vegetable oil,about 1 inch deep
¼cupgranulated sugar
1teaspooncinnamon
¼teaspoonpumpkin pie spice,optional
1canPillsbury original biscuits
Instructions
Heat oil over medium heat to 350°F.
In a shallow mixing bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Whisk together.
While the oil is heating, lay your biscuits on a flat cutting surface. Use a small round 1-inch cookie cutter to cut the middle out of each biscuit.
Carefully place donuts into hot oil. Let cook 30 to 45 seconds on each side, or until the dough turns golden brown.
Remove donuts from the oil and place in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Flip over and coat both sides.
Serve warm!
Notes
If you have an air fryer, you could also experiment with cooking these donuts in it. You will want to brush the donuts with the oil and cook on the basket then watch the cooking time as it will be different from a normal frying approach.
Instead of using a plate, add the sugar mixture to a brown paper bag. Add warm donuts and give them a gentle shake to coat.
